At Matchtech, the Goodwood Races are a cherished part of our heritage, and this year, we did something truly special. We hosted a Women in STEM celebration in our hospitality box on Ladies' Day. 💗 Our aim was to bring together like-minded and passionate professionals to discuss all things STEM. We explored ways to tackle talent challenges, ignite interest in STEM careers, and empower each other to elevate the careers of women around us. Hosted by our Chief People Officer, Claire Cross, and our Head of EDI, Annabel Honour, we had the privilege of inviting folk from our client and partner communities to join us for a day filled with insightful conversations and meaningful connections. From engaging discussions to networking opportunities, the event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the incredible potential of women in STEM. ‘Classic Carter or Carter Classic’…..? 👟 I will be filled with pride this evening to be in the privileged position to support/lead this great business at a time when we hit such a fantastic milestone of 4️⃣0️⃣ years. We will be taking the time to celebrate:- - the hundreds of thousands of people we’ve found great career opportunities for 👏🏻 - the award winning business that we have grown in to and the lives that we have changed in that time 🎉 - the impact we have on STEM skills and the role we’ve played in major #Technology and #Engineering programmes around the world 🧬 - recognising the best in our business with our annual staff awards 🏆 - donning some likely questionable 80’s attire 😬 AND - remembering great colleagues and friends that we have lost this year 💔 I am sure the celebrations will be filled with fun…..I also have no doubt I’ll have a slight wobble this evening as we also give out the first ‘Carter Classic’. This is the actual Reebok Classic that he used to play many of us off the park in. Now immortalised in bronze and will be given out to the colleague who has; been a winner, stepped up, turned a corner or made something special happen….all things that I saw Grahame do time and time again over our two decades working together. Many thanks to all of our; colleagues, clients, candidates, alumni, communities, families, suppliers and competitors…..who have all played their part over the 40 years and who are still helping shape who we are today. The Grahame Carter Remembrance Gallop 2024 On Friday night, we returned to Goodwood for our annual team day at the races for the first time since the loss of our beloved colleague and friend, Grahame Carter. Both Gattaca alumni and current colleagues will know that Grahame lit up at Goodwood, it was his favourite night of the year. ❤️ In his absence, we lit up Goodwood for him. We had the immense privilege of sponsoring a race in memory of GC. The Remembrance Gallop was a fitting tribute to a man whose presence on those race days will always be missed. Grahame's lifework at Gattaca was all about spotting fresh sales talent and supporting them to become the best, so it was especially meaningful to sponsor a race for apprentice jockeys, continuing Grahame's work in fostering the next generation of talent. It was also fitting that our Matchtech water division, a team that Grahame was instrumental in building and developing from the ground up, won our Q3 Sales Incentive and spent the day taking in the races from the luxury of a private box. Grahame would have been extremely proud (and frankly, fuming to have missed it). We want to thank Grahame's wife, Roma, his children Evie & Harry, and all his loved ones who joined us on Friday and who participated in the prize-giving ceremony. It was evident to see the profound influence that Grahame had on all of us. We are incredibly proud to have been part of the Grahame Carter Remembrance Gallop and to pay tribute to a remarkable individual who will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️ #GrahameCarter #Goodwood #RememberingGrahame #LegacyHonoured
