Geo2 is delighted to announce the opening of a new office based in Newark. The office will be home to a recently appointed land quality team.   The Newark team are just one part of an overall expansion plan for Geo2. Over the past six months the company has welcomed the addition of eighteen new team members. This growth reflects Geo2's strategic commitment to advancing its land quality, ground risk and geotechnical services, cementing its position as a leading remediation specialist and further solidifying its place in the market as a prominent player in the field of brownfield and contaminated land solutions. Today we say goodbye to our Year in Industry student Nathan Jones. What can we say about Nathan… he’s hardworking, reliable and a great team player. He slotted in really quickly and has been a valuable asset to the team. He’s dug trial pits, drilled boreholes and willingly got involved in any sitework that we’ve asked him to – whatever the weather. He’s been an invaluable support back in the office as well, logging results and writing reports for clients. We could show you lots of fantastic images of Nathan that we’ve taken of him out on site, working hard. PFAS… the hot topic in the twenty first century remediation world. Due to the exceptional stability and surface-active nature of PFAS, many conventional treatment technologies are ineffective for remediating PFAS-impacted sites. As a result, treatment technologies for PFAS are the focus of intense research and development and are rapidly evolving. At Geo2, we are leading the way by actively developing our own techniques to more effectively recover and remediate PFAS from groundwater, especially in high flow environments. One current approach is the use of ion exchange (IX) resins or GAC in packed beds to remove low concentration PFAS. Whilst IX resin and GAC beds have shown to be effective in PFAS removal in some cases, the design of these systems is complex due to the need for site-specific adsorption isotherm data, which is often influenced by background chemistry and competitive adsorption.   At Geo2, we are utilising world-leading expertise in adsorption of PFAS to surfaces to design an effective PFAS removal system, allowing for the selection of the optimum adsorbent for your project, and estimation of quantities of media required for a particular duty. Six months ago, we set out on an exciting journey to advance our land quality, ground risk and geotechnical services; building and supporting the existing Geo2 team. Since then, we have welcomed 14 new members to the team, effectively doubling the head count at Geo2. Today we were able to share with the team at a half year business update that we are smashing the budget targets that we originally put in place. The rest of the financial year and beyond looks rosy as we continue to secure some exciting big projects across the UK and beyond. We would like to thank all the Geo2 team for their hard work. We didn’t anticipate the speed at which word would get out and at times it has been all hands-on deck, with everyone getting stuck in. We wouldn’t expect anything less from our truly fantastic team.
