Pre-pack furniture retailer IKEA has launched Ikea Preowned – a second-hand marketplace aimed at keeping products in circulation for longer than they otherwise might be. The Ikea Preowned platform has been unveiled in Madrid, and will soon arrive in Oslo. The plans are to make it available more widely in due course. Ikea’s move marks a significant step up in its second-hand market presence, building on the small section of preloved goods it already sells in some stores. A full online marketplace means it will compete with other peer-to-peer websites such as eBay and Facebook Marketplace. cc. Jesper Brodin, Sofie Rogers, Hiliary Jenkins, Connor Hill

Marks and Spencer's repair service is now live! Today, any person across the UK can book a repair on their M&S clothing, powered by SOJO, and I couldn't be happier. As one of the biggest and most long standing British brands, for them to bring a repair service to all of their customers is such a big step for us at SOJO and for the circular fashion industry as a whole. Every repair matters when it comes to our mission of extending the life of as many clothes as possible - and our tailors couldn't be more ready. Having been doing this for years, it's incredible to see that the repair industry is only growing from strength to strength and that we're still just at the beginning. Here's to this big step on making repair mainstream. Thank you to the M&S team who worked across this - for being the champions behind bringing this service to life and for trusting SOJO to be your repair partner. Let the repairs begin! https://lnkd.in/e7G7ag_U Emily Anders Daniel Himsworth Katharine Beacham Sacha Spinas Roxanne Gates Simran Virk Nicola Foxen and Katie McCoy

Coffee chain Caffè Nero is in the process of switching 630 stores in the UK to energy company Octopus’s ‘Electric Match’ tariff as part of its efforts to rely more on renewables. Hundreds of Caffè Nero fascia stores, as well as its Roastery and the shops it owns under different brands such as Harris+Hoole and Coffee#1, are making the move to Electric Match. It means the Caffè Nero Group’s energy will be sourced from three British solar and wind farms in Yorkshire, Wales, and Lincolnshire, all of which are managed by Octopus Energy’s generation arm. cc. UK homelessness charity Crisis is collaborating with the UKFT Association to trial a new approach to clothing recycling. The trial, forming part of the ACT project led by UKFT which is also being embraced by retailers such as Marks & Spencer and New Look, is currently running in the charity’s Peckham and Elephant & Castle stores in London. The pilot scheme will continue until September, and it aims to support customers to better recycle their clothes and create more sustainable solutions to fabric waste. cc. Morrisons has become the latest business to join the ‘The Move to -15°C coalition which entails raising freezer temperatures to save energy and reduce carbon usage. Described as “a cool plan” by CEO Rami Baitiéh, the move comes as experts have identified that a 3 degree C increase in freezer temperature on the current industry standard of -18°C can have a significant impact on reducing emissions levels. The standard was set almost 100 years and has not been updated since, despite improvements in refrigeration that suggest it will not negatively impact food safety. Morrisons began experimenting with the warmer freezer temperature on 1 August, implementing the ‘Move to -15 degrees C’ strategy in ten of its stores. cc.
