We’re the charity for the digestive system, and we believe it’s time the UK got to grips with guts.
About us
Guts UK is the only UK charity to fund research into the digestive system from top to tail: the gut, liver and pancreas. We were founded in 1971 as the Digestive Disorders Foundation and since then, we have funded almost 300 projects and invested £14 million pounds into medical research that leads to better diagnoses and treatments for the millions of people who, like us, don’t have the luxury of taking our guts for granted. At Guts UK, we're raising the banner for digestive health. Our mission is to: - Provide expert information - Raise awareness of digestive health - Transform the landscape for research into diseases of the gut, liver and pancreas. So that no-one suffers alone. Visit our website for more information of our important work and how you can help.

🚨Save the Date: 18th September 2024, 6.00 - 7.00pm via Zoom Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) is a lifeline for individuals with pancreatic cancer, neuroendocrine cancer, pancreatitis, and cystic fibrosis. As the intermittent PERT shortages continue across the UK, it’s crucial that GPs and pharmacists have accurate and expert guidance to support their patients through these challenging times. We’re joining forces with Pancreatic Cancer UK and other charities on 18th September for a free evening webinar. Designed specifically for GPs and pharmacists, this event will cover what to do when patients are running low or unable to access PERT. Plus, you’ll have the chance to ask your questions to a panel of specialists. You see me smiling and having fun. It might look like everything is going well. Behind that smile, there’s more to my story. Living with a digestive condition often means hiding the daily struggles that aren't visible in a snapshot. What you don’t see is the pain and discomfort I go through. Some days, just getting out of bed can be a big challenge. It’s hard to explain the fatigue or the frustration of not being able to enjoy a meal like everyone else. These invisible symptoms can weigh heavily on my life, and it’s tough to show this side of the story online. You’re not alone. At Guts UK, we’re here to support you and raise awareness about the reality of living with digestive symptoms or conditions. It's important to be kind and understanding, recognising that not all challenges are visible. Offer a helping hand, lend a listening ear, and be gentle with yourself and others. We all have our own struggles, and sometimes, a little compassion goes a long way. Together, let’s bring more understanding and visibility to these hidden struggles. Reach out, connect with others, and remember, we’re all in this together.💚 #DigestiveConditions #InvisibleIllness #ChronicIllness #GutHealth #DigestiveHealth #GutsUK #GutsCharityUK #Selfcare
