Reflecting our part of North West London, Hampstead School’s intake is predominantly from the local areas of Kilburn, West Hampstead, Cricklewood and Willesden. Our learners represent the diversity of our communities with over 70 languages spoken by our bilingual students.

“I feel proud and privileged to have worked with this Year 11 cohort," said Hampstead School Head Matthew Sadler. "They are an extraordinarily diverse group – brilliant artists, scientists, athletes and writers – but they have been united by a readiness to Think Big, Work Hard and Be Kind." Our fantastic students are celebrating a very positive set of GCSE and BTEC results, having shown ambition and resilience in securing an impressive range of life-changing qualifications despite facing lockdowns and school closures in their first and second years of secondary education. Last week's results day saw a huge number of ‘good news stories’, with the local press capturing some wonderful examples of how special this Class of 2024 are: https://lnkd.in/ez8-4Fs3 We are so excited to see what they go on to achieve in Sixth Form! #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

'I saw that there were thousands of candidates and I thought "I’m from Hampstead School, I’m different..."’ Zeba Samad showed huge resilience following a significant bereavement during her A Level studies, achieving a triumphant Distinction* in BTEC Business, an A in Financial Studies and a B in Media Studies to secure a highly competitive apprenticeship with J.P. Morgan. Her success is reflective of all our inspirational and courageous Year 13 students who celebrated their excellent A-Level, BTEC and LIBF results last week. COVID-19 lockdowns occurred when these students were in Years 9 and 10, so it is humbling to see so many students achieving the highest academic standards, and still more going on to life-changing destinations. Our Head, Matthew Sadler, said: “This cohort of students should be very proud of their excellent results, even more proud of the incredible range of university and apprenticeship destinations they have secured, and most proud of their courage, creativity and character.” Overall pass rates for Hampstead School rose to 96% at A* to E, while the average grade for all entries was a C, reflecting the hard work and high achievement of our proudly comprehensive intake.  #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

It's fantastic to see another example of the amazing destinations our ex-students go on to, as well as the lifelong friendships being formed at Hampstead School - congratulations to all alumni enjoying their graduations this summer... Our Modern Foreign Languages department, where Nassir Haji studied and Fauzia Saeed teaches, is a dedicated and enthusiastic team who work collaboratively to provide an engaging learning experience. We are looking forward to its expansion in the new academic year as another colleague joins the staff body to teach Arabic and put the foundations in place for our students to enjoy further academic achievement, as well as developing their social connections... #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

🎓 Proud Moment Alert! 🎓 I had the immense joy of attending my son's graduation at Queen Mary University of London and witnessing the accomplishments of some of my students from the 2018 GCSE cohort Hampstead School. It was heartwarming to see these bright individuals, who met in our Arabic class, celebrate this milestone together. A testament to the fact that friendships formed in schools are certain to last a lifetime. Congratulations to all the graduates! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off. Here's to your bright futures and the many successes that lie ahead! #ProudParent #ProudTeacher #GraduationDay #2018GCSECohort #FutureLeaders #LifelongFriendships #hamspteadschool #QMUL #Engineering

We are excited to see how our new dining hall shelters take shape over the coming week, so watch this space for an update from Canopies UK Ltd. We hope that their installation means more students will be able to access our fantastic catering service (without getting wet in winter months!) and allow us to open another external servery in due course... We are so thankful that the work is being underwritten by the London Borough of Camden as part of the council's continued attempts to improve the school eating environment across all their settings. #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

As the last day of term wraps up at Hampstead School, we would like to say thank you to everyone for another wonderful year of learning and enrichment here in NW2. We hope everyone has a fantastic summer and will look forward with much anticipation to seeing the hard work, ambition and academic talent of our students reflected in their examination results this August. September will also see a new cohort of Year 7 students join our school of community roots and global connections, which celebrates what makes us different, and what we have in common... #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

We were delighted to welcome Irvinder Goodhew to Hampstead School today and give some of our GCSE Business students the opportunity to hear from such a successful executive with wide-ranging experience. Irvinder is a fantastic example for our students, having made Diversity, Equity and Inclusion a cornerstone of her practice wherever she's worked and regularly appearing on the Top 100 Ethnic Minority Leaders List: https://lnkd.in/euB8Gme6 Our Year 10 classes were treated to lots of insights informed by her current role as a Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal, and her previous transformation roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Sainsbury's. Subjects covered in her talks ranged from the importance of education in opening up career options (as journeys vary and you may find yourself following a different path), to the types of skills and qualities needed for industry (where maintaining a high level of curiosity is key), and the potential ramifications of Artificial Intelligence on the workforce (no need to fear replacement by robots but instead expect them to complement humans!).   Our students were also able to glean knowledge on what it is like to work as a management consultant, such as the difficulties of balancing growth and profitability for companies, and the tough decisions on efficiencies that Irvinder Goodhew said always need to be made with a focus on the individuals impacted by them. #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

The ethos of Hampstead School is perfectly captured by our International Arts Festival which celebrates what makes us different to foster unity and togetherness. This year's event was yet another explosion of creativity and diversity, so it is wonderful to see our smiling and colourfully-dressed students and staff recognised in the local press for their fundraising efforts: https://lnkd.in/egKTC_w3 #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

"To have the chance to inspire just one person in the way my experience inspired me, means the world. I want to showcase what might be possible for students if they work hard and follow their dreams." Ex-Hampstead School student Pref, who is known for his unique typographic street art, returned last week to install a huge mural on our Design and Technology block. Current students sacrificed their half-term holidays so they could work with him to make his complex vision a reality. The children from Years 9 to 12 joined together to ensure the ambitious project was completed in time and to the highest standards. We think the final results look absolutely amazing, so are delighted that the Ham&High have published more photos and details here: https://lnkd.in/dQPXbNu4 #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind

Although the half-term holidays are in full swing and most members of our community are enjoying a well-deserved break, the work continues for some staff and students here at Hampstead School... For instance, it has been lovely to welcome our incoming Year 7s this week as they complete a CATs test so we can best support their future learning when they make the transition to secondary in September. Meanwhile, the classic British weather has been trying to turn student smiles into frowns as a small group battle the elements to transform our Art & Design block, armed only with some spray paint (and the expert guidance of a Hampstead School alumnus). We look forward to revealing the fruits of their labour and creating even more memories with plenty of other exciting events to look forward to in the coming weeks! #ThinkBigWorkHardBeKind
