Hawk Racing are one of the most established teams in the British motorcycle racing paddock.

About us

Hawk Racing was established in 1999 by Team Principal Stuart Hicken, who over the years has passed on his experience and skills to make the team what it is today. Since its creation, Hawk Racing has been one of the most competitive and professional teams in the paddock in both track and road races. Stuart has enjoyed a long and fruitful association with the sport since he started racing motorcycles in the late 1960’s. During his successful 12 year racing career, including several appearances at the Isle of Man TT, Stuart gained as much pleasure from preparing his bikes as he did from riding them. After retiring from racing, his mechanical and technical skills were in great demand, especially in Grand Prix where he managed the White Power Suspension support truck for almost a decade. Stuart’s technical and managerial expertise gained at motorcycle racing’s highest level, led him to manage and achieve success with several high-profile national and international championship teams, such as Medd Racing and Rêve Racing. Hawk Racing is a family run team, with Stuart’s son Steve now leading the way, however Stuart is always present to pass on his expertise and logic. Together, they have a keen eye for young, up and coming riders that they can develop into potential championship winners, striving for podiums and success. Today, the team competes in the British Superbike Championship and major international road races including the Northwest 200 and the Isle of Man TT.

MasterMac Honda aces in the points again as rain brings chaos to Snetterton MasterMac Honda riders Charlie Nesbitt and Lee Jackson had a rollercoaster of a weekend in an incident-packed Bennetts British Superbike Championship meeting at Snetterton. Two changeable summer’s days at the Norfolk circuit saw rain showers wreak havoc on the racing, with two of the three Bennetts BSB contests being restarted after conditions became dangerous. The weather proved to be a leveller in Saturday’s opening race, which saw both MasterMac Honda riders vying for podium finishes. Jackson initially progressed to third place before a huge slice of bad luck as a technical issue forced him to retire while fourth. After a red flag and a restart, it was Nesbitt who then made it up to third before he became one of several riders to crash out in the dicey conditions. Sunday brought more downpours and some steady performances from the duo. Nesbitt came home ninth and tenth respectively in the two races, consolidating his ninth place championship standing. Meanwhile Jackson also added to his championship tally with 11th place in both races - the first of which was an eye-catching result having started from the back of the grid in 25th. Steve Hicken, team manager, commented: “The conditions made for a really challenging weekend and Lee and Charlie both showed a lot of skill to get near the front in the worst of the weather on Saturday. “A podium finish wasn’t to be this time, but they both responded with solid, points-scoring finishes on Sunday and as a team we go away with our heads held high.” There was also a new addition to the team over the weekend, with Tim Neave riding a MasterMac Honda in the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance series. After a stunning performance in qualifying earned him second place on the grid, Neave rode a good race to finish seventh on his debut. Bennetts BSB returns in two weeks’ time, when MasterMac Honda and the rest of the paddock make their first visit of the season to Brands Hatch in Kent from 19-21 July. NESBITT MASTERS THE WET AT KNOCKHILL Charlie Nesbitt expertly overcame treacherous conditions to secure his best result of the season so far as MasterMac Honda racked up the points in the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. The young rider claimed a brilliant fifth-place - having started 13th on the grid - as rain fell throughout the second of three races at the Scottish circuit. It was the highlight of a strong weekend for the team as Nesbitt and teammate Lee Jackson finished in the top ten in all three races. Jackson was a model of consistency, coming home eighth in the opening race, ninth in the second and tenth in the third. Meanwhile, Nesbitt bagged a ninth and an eighth place finish in addition to his eye-catching fifth. The sequence of results sees Nesbitt move up two places to eighth in the overall Bennetts BSB standings, with Jackson in twelfth. MasterMac Honda’s team manager Steve Hicken said: “The conditions were a big test for the riders but both Charlie and Lee handled it well and it’s been a really positive weekend for the team overall. “Charlie had a tough time here last year in his rookie season, so it was particularly impressive that he not only put that well and truly behind him but also delivered our best result of the season to date. “Congratulations to him and the whole crew, and thanks to all of our sponsors for their continued support. “We’ll take confidence from this performance and look forward to building on it as the season continues.” The MasterMac Honda team will return to action when Bennetts BSB visits Snetterton in Norfolk from 5-7 July. Retirement costs Dunlop and Hawk TT title shot Hawk Racing and Michael Dunlop were denied a potential seventh Isle of Man TT win together in the final race of this year’s event. The Northern Irishman had already made history earlier in the week by surpassing the all-time number of individual TT race wins, moving to 29 in total including his six with Hawk. Saturday’s Milwaukee Senior TT saw him return to the MasterMac Honda on which he had set a new record time around the 37-mile course the previous weekend, with the team and rider determined to win the blue riband race. However, our hopes of victory were dashed early on when the bike suffered a mechanical failure on the opening lap and Dunlop was forced to retire. Steve Hicken, team manager, said: “It’s a really tough break after spending two weeks on the island working hard to prepare a bike Michael could win on. “Mechanical issues happen at times, and the problem wasn’t one anyone could have foreseen, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing. “We knew from the Superbike TT the previous weekend we had the pace to win and it would’ve been the perfect end to the meeting for Michael and for us. “The whole team would like to congratulate Michael on his successes in other classes through the week and over the years, including with Hawk Racing. It’s a source of great pride that we’re a part of his story.” Hawk will be back in action next weekend as MasterMac Surfacing Ltd Honda’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship campaign resumes at Knockhill in Scotland.

Heartbreak for Dunlop and Hawk in dramatic TT race Michael Dunlop and Hawk Racing were denied a famous win at the Isle of Man TT on Sunday, despite the Northern Irish rider recording the fastest ever lap of the legendary course during the RST Superbike race. Dunlop appeared well set for a victory that would have made him the outright leader on the all-time TT winners list, having equalled the record of 26 wins held by his late uncle Joey the previous day. Resuming his partnership with Hawk in the superbike class - a combination that has brought six TT wins to date - Dunlop began setting an electric pace including a new lap record on the second of the six 37-mile laps. That put him in the lead at the half-way stage before a problem with his replacement visor forced him to pull over shortly after his pit stop in order to refit the visor before resuming the race. There was no way of making up the time that cost him against a high calibre field, although Dunlop continued to get incredible performance from the Hawk Racing Honda. He again set a new lap record on his last lap before finishing in fourth place. Steve Hicken, Hawk Racing’s team manager, said: “Michael was outstanding on the bike and we’re absolutely devastated not to have taken the win. “The TT is an event where you almost expect the unexpected and the issue with his visor is certainly not something we’ve seen before or would expect to see again. “We’re gutted as a team and gutted for Michael but also need to look at the positives and to break the lap record not once but twice was a huge achievement. “It shows we’ve got the potential to finish the week on a high in the Senior TT, which is exactly what we’ll be aiming to do.” Dunlop will be back on board the Hawk Racing Honda for the Milwaukee Senior TT, which starts at 11.45am on Saturday.

Jackson and Nesbitt up the pace at Donington MasterMac Surfacing Ltd Honda’s Lee Jackson and Charlie Nesbitt delivered their best results of the season so far in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship over the weekend. The pairing showed good pace throughout the meeting at a sun-soaked Donington Park, with Jackson setting the fastest time of the opening free practice session before qualifying fifth on the grid for Saturday’s opening race. With Nesbitt qualifying 15th and Jackson unluckily slipping well down the pack after getting caught up an incident early on in the race, they both expertly cut through the field for Jackson to eventually finish seventh and Nesbitt ninth. Sunday brought another two action-packed races, the first of which saw Nesbitt equal Jackson’s seventh place finish of the previous day, while Jackson passed the chequered flag in a points-scoring 13th. And in the final race of the weekend, Jackson put in another strong performance to finish eighth with Nesbitt coming home 11th. It all leaves Nesbitt sitting in 10th and Jackson 12th in the Bennetts BSB standings. Reflecting on the weekend, team manager Steve Hicken said: “We’ve making good progress as a team and it’s pleasing to see Lee and Charlie moving up the field. “Lee was quick all weekend and he’s clearly getting more comfortable and more competitive on what’s still a new bike to him. “Charlie remains one of the best youngsters in Bennetts BSB and has broken into the top ten in the championship by riding and finishing consistently well. “There’s an extended gap now until the next round at Knockhill in the middle of June and we can go into the break knowing that we’ve laid some good foundations to build on for the rest of the season.” The break in the Bennetts BSB calendar accounts for the upcoming Isle of Man TT Races, where the team will be competing in the superbike categories with road racing star Michael Dunlop on board.

Hawk Racing is delighted to announce that road racing star Michael Dunlop will ride for the team in the superbike categories at the Isle of Man TT and North West 200. The Northern Irishman will again be on board the MasterMac Honda by Hawk Racing Honda Fireblade for the prestigious Senior TT and Superbike TT when the eyes of the motor racing world descend on the Isle of Man in June. Dunlop and Hawk combined to win the Superbike TT last year and the 35-year-old is now just one win away from equalling the all-time record of 26 TT titles held by his legendary uncle Joey. Dunlop will also compete on the MasterMac Surfacing Ltd Honda by Hawk Racing at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland, in a total of three superbike races taking place on Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th May. Hawk Racing is delighted to be working alongside a number of partners both old and new for the 2024 road racing campaign. A further update will be made in due course. Jackson and Nesbitt pocket more points for MasterMac Honda MasterMac Surfacing Ltd Honda duo Lee Jackson and Charlie Nesbitt racked up six point-scoring finishes between them as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship visited Oulton Park over the weekend. Following the season-opener in Spain, the first UK round of the campaign drew a huge crowd to the Cheshire circuit and saw three fiercely competitive Bennetts BSB races. Jackson and Nesbitt both made it into the Speedy Top 15 in Sunday’s qualifying session, putting themselves 13th and 14th on the grid respectively for the opening race. In sunny conditions, Nesbitt gained three places in Race One to come home 11th, while Jackson fought back well after initially slipping down the field to finish 14th. A further two races on Bank Holiday Monday saw both riders fighting hard to ultimately secure the same positions each time - Jackson taking 11th in both races and Nesbitt 13th. It leaves Nesbitt 11th in the championship standings with Jackson close behind in 13th after the opening five races. Steve Hicken, team manager, said: “The opening rounds of the season tend to have a steep learning curve and we’ve seen that again at both Oulton Park and Navarra. “The competition is at a really high standard and the challenge for us is to grow into the season and be finishing higher up the field as the year progresses. “But it was another solid weekend for us with both Lee and Charlie battling hard, and it’s a credit to them and the rest of the team that both riders have scored points in every race so far.” MasterMac Honda will continue their Bennetts BSB campaign when the series arrives in the East Midlands for three races at Donington Park from 17-19 May.
