    Most organisations believe they have a clear Ambition for their business – what they want to achieve and by when.   However, our findings often reveal they are less clear in how that Ambition translates into the changes, actions and plans needed to deliver it, with misalignment at executive level and across teams leading to disconnects with colleagues and customers. We believe that delivering transformative results and business success is linked to being clear, focused and aligned - as a business and as a team - on what you want to achieve, and how you’re going to deliver it. Whether that’s pursuing a growth or scale-up agenda, navigating key challenges or market changes, developing and prioritising your plans for the future, reducing costs or undertaking a full business reset. Translating Ambition into action and results involves getting clear and aligned on what that Ambition means in reality, and focusing and aligning the specific changes, actions and plans that will underpin delivery and set you up for success.     Busy summer in the Bulmer house with exam results, 18th birthday parties, a couple of holidays and a torn calf muscle!!! Oh and a wasted Saturday trying to get an Oasis ticket!!! Work wise over the last 6 weeks I have: - had a long standing coaching client secure a new role - so pleased for them - had another coaching client reach its natural conclusion - they have made great progress internally this time - secured a new coaching client with our first session booked for Wednesday - submitted 2 proposals for our Executive Team Coaching - fingers crossed We have also moved our business Hedgehog to Hedgehogcoach.com which we feel better reflects the services we offer.     It’s been amazing watching all the individual and team performances over the last couple of weeks, and also interesting to hear the athletes talk about their journeys, the goals they set, and the actions they took to give them the best chance for success. Analogies are often made between business and sport be that in leadership, team dynamics, and/or strategies for operational or performance gains to achieve success. The parallels we see when working with our clients include ... ➡ Make sure you’re clear on your goals, that they’re specific to you (your business) and ideally timebound ➡ Identify and focus on the things that will get you there and achieve that target performance improvement, eg specific actions, building new routines, changing how things work or your equipment. Look not just at the big silver bullets but also the multiple ‘1% shifts’ that taken together will achieve the step change ➡ Stop or change what’s not serving you in achieving your goals, eg behaviours, projects or elements of the business that aren’t aligned ➡ Recognise the importance and role of the whole team across the business (beyond the athletes!) – everyone clear on the goal, their role in making it happen, and engaged and motivated to achieve it ➡ Put a plan in place with clear timelines and interim targets to achieve the ultimate step change in performance you’re looking for, so you can see and review measurable progress and adjust as appropriate Following Team GB’s rowers success in 2024 and their best ever overseas Olympics, Louise Kingsley, GB Rowing Team Director of Performance, said … “We’re greater than the sum of the parts. There was a lot of change.     Busy week at Hedgehog as we have prepared two proposals for our Executive Team Development offer - The Leadership Advantage. At the heart of our offer is the belief that "Fellowship" really does matter for Executive teams to thrive. Building Executive Fellowship - An Executive Team which builds fellowship will always seek to ensure their collective goals are achieved. Individuals are ambitious, but first and foremost this is for the organisation and not themselves. They have each other’s backs. They attribute success to the wider organisation but will always take responsibility when things are not going well. I am sure others will have a view but in Rod Bulmer's opinion the primary reason the Co-op Group survived it's crisis was that it built fellowship amongst it's Executive leadership team - Steve Murrells CBE Pippa Wicks Richard Pennycook Greg Nugent Alistair Asher (thanks Steve Tappin) - that meant it could act and move quickly as one.     What's the difference between a Strategy and a Plan? The words are often used interchangeabley, but they are different. Neither on their own will deliver the results you're aiming to achieve. But together, they have an important role in helping organisations' achieve their target Ambition.
