  • We are proud to present the award winners of the 2024 HMPPS Staff Awards: 🏆Prison Champion of the Year – Custodial Manager Mackie After strongly campaigning for a dedicated space at HMP Drake Hall for women with a history of trauma or abuse, Richard was pivotal in establishing the Hamlet. The unit has been so successful that 11 more sites are launching similar units. Richard was described by his colleagues as always striving for improvement and often asking "what can we do better". 🏆Probation Champion of the Year – Probation Officer Agbukor Having also received the High Sheriff award for 20 years of service, Humphrey was surprised to see he had won another award. He has been praised by his colleagues as an "inspirational Probation Officer" with an "infectious dedication" towards his role. Many people from the PDU, Police as well as those on probation thanked Humphrey for his professionalism and support. 🏆Youth Custody Service Champion of the Year – Physical Education Instructor Dunham Physical Education Instructor Tom Dunham has managed to find ways that allow for those in custody to still complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Tom has been highly praised by the children he works with for making a huge difference in their lives and for helping them learn so much. Tom also persevered with a young person who despite at first not being engaged, has taught him basic Maths and English and built his confidence enough to volunteer on certain activities. Our HMPPS Staff Awards celebrate the great achievements of our staff and acknowledge their role in protecting the public, prevent victims and reducing reoffending. Congratulations to all our finalists! 🎉
