Monday Motivation! It can be easy to let our inner critic take over, and get stuck in repetitive negative thought loops. Improv is brilliant for training you on how to get unstuck. By making your focus listening to your team mates you can step out of self-censoring. And when we step away from that we free ourselves up to be more creative and more effective communicators! #ImprovYourLife #Improvisation #MondayMotivation

"How do you deal with a crisis? What do you do when a sudden change disrupts routines? In order to thrive in times of uncertainty, you need managers and employees who can think on their feet and act fast — without an instruction manual. That is, you need skilled improvisers." This article from Harvard Business Review acknowledges that improvisation is a skill integral to an organisation's agility, and their research identified 3 types of improvisation skill: 1. Imitative 2. Reactive 3. Generative These 3 types of improvisation develop differently over time, and the extent to which an individual was competitively or collaboratively oriented impacted which of these improv skills were developed more. Competitive individuals generally develop reactive improvisation faster, which can be advantageous in the short term but may lead to other team members feeling alienated, and hamper longer-term development of generative improv skills. Collaborative individuals on the other hand take longer to develop reactive improvisation, but in doing so they gain the social connectedness and environment of mutual trust necessary to developing the ability to improvise generatively. According to the authors' research there is a place for both competitiveness and collaboration in the workplace, but leveraging the right approach at the right time is essential for cultivating your team's improv skills. They offer three key takeaways for managers and employees looking to foster improvisation skills in the workplace... This Level 4 group had a fantastic final class show the other week 🌟 They performed a really well crafted Living Room & Armando. Ten of them had been through Levels 1-4 together so they were an extremely tight and collaborative team which we love to see 😍 Here they are warming up with some improvised singing and posing after their performance! 🎤 🤗

Monday Motivation! For many of us, as we get older, we tend to rely more on known patterns and to take less risks. We hold on to what we know - or perceive to be - security. And saying no becomes our default. The art of improvisation opens you up to saying "Yes" again... to taking risks and becoming less afraid of making mistakes. And by training this skill in an improv setting you will find it starts to bleed into other aspects of your life. It makes you more willing to say yes to trying new things, to take creative risks and to embrace the unknown... #ImprovYourLife #Improvisation #ModayMotivation #YesAndThinking #EmbraceRisk #CreativeConfidence #AgileThinking

In today's era of rapid change, driven by technological advancements like AI, the importance of human capabilities such as empathy and curiosity has never been greater. While 'Hard Skills' are important, this article from 'Deloitte Insights' explores the ways in which 'Soft Skills' also need to be cultivated, through experiences and practice. There is evidence to suggest that where organisations focus on developing their worker's human capabilites: their imaginations, curiousity, empathy, agility and ability to collaborate, they are more able to navigate uncertainty and foster innovation. Improv can be a powerful tool for helping teams to build these essential skills; individuals learn to adapt quickly, think creatively, and communicate more effectively, all of which are crucial for thriving in a dynamic, technology-driven environment. #AI #Innovation #Empathy #Curiosity #ImprovForBusiness #ImprovSkills https://lnkd.in/eVcdBdEf
What do organizations need most in a disrupted, boundaryless age? More imagination.

Monday Motivation! A key component of improv is the ability to commit; to your character, your idea, the reality of the scene... But it is equally important to be adaptable. To be able to adjust to a new idea if you need to. If you stick too rigidly to an idea in a scene you run the risk of letting it die a slow and painful death... So you need to make big, bold choices and commit, but you always need to be able to flex and adapt if called to. This same principle can easily be applied to brainstorming session or team meetings at work. Come in with bold ideas that you are passionate about, but be prepared to let them go and commit to new things as you hear other ideas from your team. You're likely to create more innovative ideas and solutions as a team if you do! #ImprovYourLife #Improvisation Quote from Will Hines book 'How To Be The Greatest Improviser On Earth'

After years of decline, humour in advertising is back on the rise. Driven by fatigue with 'purpose-driven' messaging, it would seem consumers are now hungry for more light-hearted campaigns that make them laugh. And it turns out 'funny' is very effective at translating into sales... Research has shown that 90% of consumers say they’re more likely to remember a funny ad, and 72% would select a humorous brand over the competition. Given the expanding influence of playful messaging, now might seem like a good time to inject more play into your workplace... and we can certainly help with that 😉 #CreativeMarketing #HumourInAdvertising #AdvertisingTrends #ConsumerEngagement #MarketingStrategy #WorkplaceCulture #ImprovYourWorkplace https://lnkd.in/eSxBqA5e

One of the most joyful things to watch is the sense of playful community which builds over the course of an eight week improv class 👥 Many of our Beginners go on to complete the rest of the Hoopla Impro levels together, and eventually form improv teams who practice, socialise and perform regularly together. And we love to see it 🤩
