We are heartbroken to have lost such a special colleague. Max was truly one of a kind, and one of Hyve’s shining talents. The mark that Max has made on our Bett series of events is immeasurable and was fuelled by his genuine care for his customers, and his drive to improve education around the world. The mark he made on his colleagues was equally significant. He was warm, generous with his time and so much fun to spend time with. He is already so missed. Our hearts go out to Max’s fiancée, friends, family and anyone who was close to him at this unbelievably difficult time. On 11th August we celebrated a significant one – our colleague Natallia Zhuk-Higgs marked 20 incredible years with Hyve! 🎉 Natallia joined us back in 2004 as an Event Coordinator based in London. Little did she know, this decision would lead to two decades of remarkable experiences: “What a journey it has been! With the business reinventing itself so dramatically over the years, I've been presented with endless opportunities to learn and grow. The change I've witnessed over these 20 years is staggering. Various roles, industries, geographies. Travelled the world, and made lifelong friends amongst colleagues and clients. Felt supported, when the time came to have a family, through downturns, through the pandemic. And I’m still learning and growing every day as part of the legendary Investing in African Mining Indaba sales team. As it is Mandela Day after all, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to share our ambition to drive further impact in the local communities in and around our offices, and where we host our events. Building on the success of the launch of our community investment programme last year, we’re thrilled to announce that for 2024 we’ll be investing into two new community projects: 🌊Supporting the Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. in New York by investing in their waterfront development project at Camp Homeward Bound to preserve the beach front for future generations of campers 💻 Supporting 2econd Chance CIC in London to bridge the digital divide by funding eight bursaries for their computer refurbishment training programme and subsidising the refurbishment of 50 laptops, which will be donated to those in need At Hyve, one of our core values is building rich connections, and as such we are constantly considering how we can positively impact our colleagues, customers, and communities. We’re driven by a shared ambition to make a positive contribution to the world around us, and this programme is just one way we are making that goal a reality. “They’re calling this school a beacon of hope in Barcelona Gugulethu, and I really do feel that today!” Through our Community Investment Programme, we partnered with Breadline Africa to create meaningful change by rebuilding Masonwabe ECD, and last month we reopened the school, a now safe and dignified space for children to learn and grow. Sustainability was always a key consideration; we rebuilt the school using a carbon negative building technique, all while upskilling locals and parents to build the school. This project is truly a testament to the power of collaboration. As well as partnering with Breadline Africa, we partnered with Ladles of Love to provide two nutritional meals daily for the children. We’re so proud to have worked together to rebuild the school which will benefit the community for generations to come. This year Pryde and W.I.N. (our Women's Inclusion Network) teamed up with GLEAM and Women @ Microsoft, Microsoft's LGBTQIA+ and Women's communities, to bring Charlie Martin, a British racing car driver and trans rights activist, to our London HQ. Then, to wrap up the month, we hosted our iconic Pride parties in London and New York.
