About us

With over 4,000 members, IATEFL is one of the most thriving communities of ELT teachers in the world. Our mission to “link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals” worldwide is achieved through: • Regular publications, including our magazine IATEFL Voices and conference selections publication. • The Annual International Conference and Exhibition attracting over 3,000 delegates • 16 Special Interest Groups to help teachers develop their own lines of interest. • Reduced rates on a range of professional journals. • Scholarships allowing deserving teachers to get involved in our Conference, events & online courses. • Links with national and regional Teachers' Associations around the world. • Assistance in helping new groups to establish their own a local Teachers' Association, including advice on how they can make the most of support and funding benefits. ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION http://conference.iatefl.org Our annual conference is one of the largest in the ELT calendar. With 3,000 ELT professionals from more than 120 countries, it involves a 4-day programme of around 500 talks, workshops and symposiums as well as a vibrant social programme. This offers delegates a unique opportunity to meet leading theorists and writers, and exchange ideas with fellow professionals from all sectors of ELT. In addition, a large resources exhibition involving around 70 ELT-related exhibitors is your one-stop shop to see the latest ELT publications and services. Plus, the IATEFL Jobs Market continues to grow in popularity with more and more recruiters and candidates using the conference as an opportunity to discuss and fill some of the best vacancies in ELT.

    SIG SPOTLIGHT- PronSIG ✨ IATEFL Pronunciation Special Interest Group has been at the forefront of the practice & theory of pronunciation teaching for more than 20 years. PronSIG gives teachers the opportunity to: exchange ideas about methodology and materials; discuss theoretical matters and, work on the interdependence of pronunciation and other areas of language learning.     Tomorrow (Wednesday 11 September) is the final day that we can accept proposal submissions for #IATEFL2025. The proposal form will close at 4pm (UK time) and after that time we will not be able to accept any further submissions. Please note, any joint speakers will also need to be added by this time. Here is a recap of how to submit your proposal: 1. Ensure you are eligible to submit at https://lnkd.in/e3JcTyye. 2. Log into your IATEFL Dashboard at www.iatefl.org and click on the 'Proposals' block to access the online form. 3. Complete the proposals form, following the information from the proposal guidelines. 4. Click 'Submit' at the end of the form. If you have previously created a draft proposal, you will need to make sure you have clicked ‘Submit’ before the deadline or it won’t be considered. 5. You will receive an email confirmation containing the details of what you included on the proposals form. Please keep this email for future reference.     The deadline for submitting a proposal for #IATEFL2025 is 16.00 (UK time) Wednesday 11 September, which is now just over a week away. If you are thinking of submitting a proposal but are worried the process is going to take too long, we have broken the process down step by step: 1️⃣ Ensure you are eligible to submit. You can find the eligibility criteria and proposal guidelines at https://lnkd.in/e3JcTyye. The biggest reason people aren’t eligible to submit is because they are not currently a member of IATEFL. Join IATEFL today by visiting www.iatefl.org/join-now. 2️⃣ Log into your IATEFL Dashboard at www.iatefl.org and click on the 'Proposals' block to access the online form. We cannot accept proposals via email, you must complete the online form. If you can't see the ‘Proposals’ block, please check your membership status. 3️⃣ Complete the proposals form, following the information from the proposal guidelines. The guidelines are designed to take you through the form and they contain the answers to some common questions we receive. If you still have a question, contact [email protected] who will be happy to help. 4️⃣ Click 'Submit' at the end of the form. You can also choose to click 'Save Draft' if you'd like to come back to finish it later. You can access your draft at any time by logging back into your IATEFL Dashboard and clicking on the ‘Proposals’ block. But make sure to come back before the deadline to submit your proposal. If your proposal is still in draft format at the deadline, it will not be considered. 5️⃣ You will receive an email confirmation containing the details of what you included on the proposals form. Please keep this email for future reference. If you have received this email then you can rest assured that we have received your proposal. If you believe you have submitted your proposal but have not received this email, please contact [email protected].
