Today marks a significant milestone for Family Health Services as we launched our 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, with the Hon. Deputy Minister of Health, Halima Daud MP, as our Guest of Honor. Highlights from the launch: • Our transition from PSI/Malawi to a fully local organization was celebrated as a step towards locally-driven, innovative public health solutions • Our new strategic plan aligns with the Malawi Health Sector Strategic Plan III and Vision 2063 • We're focusing on three key strategic goals:   1. Delivering consistent, strong results in our core areas   2. Taking healthcare closer to the end user through user-centered design and partnerships   3. Staying connected to our ecosystem to meet stakeholder needs and priorities • Key priorities include operational efficiency, team excellence, self-care leadership, digital advancement, youth empowerment, and government collaboration • The Minister praised our plan as a demonstration of good governance and thought leadership • Hon. Deputy Minister highlighted Malawi's impressive gains in HIV management, noting that the country is at 95-95-95 on UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals Our Executive Director, Mr. Jephta Mtema, emphasized our commitment to empowering Malawians to lead healthier lives and highlighted the thorough consultative process that informed our strategic priorities. We're excited to embark on this new chapter, leveraging our experience to improve health outcomes across Malawi. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐉𝐡𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐨 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐛, 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 On World Population Day, the need to enhance access to modern contraceptives in Pakistan is urgent. Jhpiego Pakistan and Impact for Health International are partnering to introduce DMPA-SC self-injection in Punjab's commercial private sector. This initiative aims to overcome challenges and tap into new opportunities within private pharmacies, potentially transforming contraceptive access across the province and empowering individuals with expanded family planning options. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬? 1. The commercial private sector does not have access to Sayana Press, which is imported solely by UNFPA. Even if they did, overpackaging is not allowed (differential marketing would be a challenge) & they do not have access to the subsidized price. 2. Though pharmacists are allowed to provide refills, there is no product in facilities. 3. FP market actors are not coordinated around the scale-up of DMPA-SC SI & therefore pose a risk to “crowd out” the commercial private sector. 4. Pharmaceutical manufacturers see the business incentive in overpackaging & distributing the generic product once available. Together, we accomplished the workshop objectives:  Validate the Market Analysis Report findings Reconfirm what a better functioning market would look like to improve access to Sayana Press and a future generic in the private sector Agree on what needs to be done, by whom, and with what incentives to deliver the system change we want to see   This resulted in development of a draft roadmap with concrete steps around priority districts, priority provider channels, demand creation strategies and role of subsidy in 1, 3, and 5 years’ time. We will use workshop discussions and finalize the DMPA SC Market Analysis report. Stay tuned!

💡 Unlocking Potential: Punjab’s Pathway Towards DMPA-SC Self- Injection in the Private Sector – Two-Day Strategy Setting Workshop on Exploring the Challenges and Opportunities in Lahore! Jhpiego & IHI are spearheading an impactful workshop on Punjab focused on strategies to enhance access to DMPA-SC Self-injection in Punjab's private sector. With a diverse group of over 25 participants representing key stakeholders in Punjab's FP value chain, including government officials, NGOs, UNFPA & commercial sector, we're fostering collaboration & innovation to drive meaningful change. Our workshop kicked off with interactive sessions & vibrant discussions, delving into our current status & future aspirations. Today, we tackled pivotal questions: "Where are we now?" and "Where do we want to go?"—setting the stage for tomorrow's focus: "How do we get there?" Tomorrow promises even more dynamic discussions as we collectively chart the pathway towards our goals. Stay tuned for updates as we work towards our final output—a Punjab Pathway Report. This report will serve as a guiding light, supporting efforts to empower women with access to this groundbreaking method.
