⭐ Purpose-driven work changes you for the better ⭐ Whilst working within the humanitarian sector has its own challenges, the effect it has on you and the community you support is immeasurable.

Interim CEO at Indigo Volunteers, working with businesses to meet their CSR goals and encouraging staff engagement.

After working in the humanitarian sector for the past 5 years, I can say that it is one of the most rewarding experiences, and one I'd recommend to everyone.   Working in a space where you know you're doing good - however big or small that impact might be - feels like more than a job. Being a humanitarian will challenge you physically and mentally, but nothing creates more resilience than the passion and commitment of helping others. Especially when you are part of a team that's supporting you at every step and that operates with the same passion and purpose. Here are a few key benefits that I've experienced working in this remarkable sector: - Purpose-Driven Work: Knowing that you are directly contributing to a valuable cause is deeply fulfilling and has kept me motivated since day 1.  - Global Perspective: The humanitarian sector opens your eyes to different challenges and cultures. As a result you build empathy, understanding and a global mindset.  - Skill Development: The challenges we face in the sector are always changing and you might often get to experience things you never would expect. Working in this field has required me to learn how to problem solve, stay adaptable, and lead with compassion. - Personal Growth: Working in this sector changes your perspective on what truly matters in life, and has deepened my sense of purpose and belonging. If you are considering a career change, think about joining the humanitarian sector. It will be one of the most impactful journeys of your life. #HumanitarianWork #GlobalImpact #CareerGrowth #MakeaDifference

Grateful to be Featured on BBC Look North. During a recent trip back home to Newcastle Upon Tyne, I had the chance to be featured on BBC News Look North to talk about the journey of the organisation I founded in 2015 Refugee Biriyani & Bananas (RBB). From our efforts supporting people who are refugees on the Greek Islands to leading emergency responses in Gaza, it’s been a powerful experience shaped by the strength and resilience of the communities we serve. This isn’t just my story—it’s about the collective effort of everyone who has supported RBB along the way. She achieved 143% of her initial fundraising target!💙 If you decide to join a challenge event to raise money to support #refugees, our team will provide you with plenty of support and guidance on how to approach fundraising and to get your friends involved 😀 👇Join a challenge event now! https://lnkd.in/eA4EB3Jv

❗Team Spotlight: Meet Cem Auchinleck-Onal, our Grant Writer❗ After possessing an ongoing desire to volunteer, but feeling frustration from the barriers that are often involved, Indigo’s commitment to responsible and ethical volunteering are what drew Cem to the team. Cem joined Indigo as a Grant Writer volunteer in January with no previous experience in fundraising, but you wouldn’t know it. His willingness to learn, understand and receive feedback have seen him excel from day 1! As a Grant Writer, Cem is responsible for collaborating with the Indigo team to set and achieve our fundraising goals. 🎯This involves researching and applying for relevant grants, funding programs, and sponsorships. ✍️He has gone above and beyond, and has even assisted in organising a 5k walk around Edinburgh to raise money and awareness for Indigo’s mission!🚶 Cem is a natural leader. 🤝He’s always willing to support other members of the fundraising team, step up to the plate, and always brings a can-do attitude. 😄 We don’t pin our team against each other… but if there was an award for “Most committed to topping up your tan and beating the bad weather in Scotland allegations”... Cem would take first place🤣🏆 Thank you, Cem - for all your hard work and dedication! 🌟 #TeamSpotlight #GrantWriter #TeamPlayer #IndigoVolunteers
