Since co-founding the IIF in 2019, we have helped raise nearly £1 million to support a social mobility program aimed at empowering individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds and fostering diversity in the infrastructure sector.   In partnership with Career Ready, we're hosting five interns aged 16-17 for a four-week paid internship program this summer. In June, the Infracapital team took part in a volunteering day in Islington, visiting Lumpy Hill Adventure Playground, a local children's playground, where they helped to clear up and enhance the site. It was all hands on deck and the team cleared overgrown areas, weeded, painted goalposts, fixed gates, a swing and refilled the sandpit. It was a great day to give back to the community and spend time with colleagues outside of the office. Sir Dieter Helm CBE – Dieter Helm is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College, Oxford. From 2012 to 2020, he was Independent Chair of the Natural Capital Committee, providing advice to the government on the sustainable use of natural capital. He provides extensive expert advice to UK and European governments, regulators and companies across three key areas: Energy & Climate; Regulation, Utilities & Infrastructure; and Natural Capital & the Environment. His latest book “Legacy” discusses sustainable economies and what it would take to live within our environmental means. Previously, she served as the Shadow Minister for Education and Young People, and Shadow Minister for International Development. Infracapital has agreed the sale of its 100% stake in C2i to HISI Group . C2i is a portfolio of PPP (Public Private Partnership) assets in Northern Italy which provide core public services to Vimercate Hospital in North Milan and Empoli Hospital west of Florence, as well as energy to the Careggi University Hospital north of Florence. Michele Armanini, Managing Director at Infracapital, said: “C2i has played a critical role within public services in Italy under our ownership. It worked closely with the health authorities to respond to the changing demands during the pandemic. In addition, we are pleased to have added another exit to our track record from our greenfield strategy, creating value for our investors. Infracapital – M&G’s infrastructure equity arm, has successfully completed its second investment in the German rolling stock market by investing in a 41-strong fleet of new electric trains destined for Leipzig – one of the fastest growing regions in Germany. Partnering with Rock Rail – an independent developer, owner and asset manager of rail infrastructure – the investment helps to support the country’s development of sustainable public transport and aligns with Infracapital and Rock Rail’s commitment to green infrastructure.
