The Ups and Downs in forest restoration Landscape restoration and tree growing come with their own set of challenges. In Ghana, this year we've faced delays as well as seedling losses due to erratic season changes and dry spells. The planting seasons are becoming extremely unpredictable and unreliable and #ClimateChange is to blame. Because we are witnessing the impacts of climate change on our work first-hand, we are even more intrigued to contribute solutions to climate change through mitigation and community adaptation. Hence, despite these obstacles, we’re pleased to resume seedling distribution and tree planting to meet this year's target in Ghana:~ 1,302 hectares to be planted with native trees: and ~ 987 hectares to be planted with agroforestry species. We source tree seedlings from local nursery beds and we are already creating jobs and impacting lives with the project. However, we are quite excited about how the mangoes, cashews and coconuts being planted today will positively improve lives, local economies and biodiversity in future! Grateful to AstraZeneca for the financial support, Circular Bioeconomy Alliance and Nature & Development Foundation for partnership.
