About us
The International Association of Insolvency Regulators (IAIR) is an international body that brings together the collective experiences and expertise of government insolvency regulators from jurisdictions around the world. IAIR members have a unique perspective given the role that they play in insolvency systems. IAIR provides a range of support to regulators of insolvency practice in its member countries. IAIR is open to representatives from government departments, ministries, agencies and public authorities which have responsibility in their country for one or more of the following functions: • insolvency policy and legislation; • insolvency practice and administration; • insolvency regulation. Hence, IAIR members are normally government officials or representatives of the court. IAIR currently has around 30+ active member countries and is keen to increase its representation across the full range of countries involved in delivering corporate and/or personal (consumer) bankruptcy systems.

Opportunity for a new member of staff to earn a scholarship to present at the 2024 IAIR conference. We are delighted to announce that IAIR is offering a scholarship for a new member of staff to present at the 2024 conference - see the attached pdf and information below. We recognise that generally it is the most senior employees of our members who attend the conference. However, last year at the conference we had an outstanding presentation from a young employee of a member organisation who had won a competition run by his organisation to present at our conference. This made us keen to encourage greater participation from a wider range of people at our conference. Hence the IAIR Diversity and Inclusion Community of Practice have come up with the following proposal which has been supported by the IAIR Executive Committee. Applications are sought from people working for an IAIR member and they must be new to the insolvency profession. They will also need the support of a contact within the IAIR member organisation - and the organisation will have to be a paid IAIR member. Applicants will need to have a plan for a presentation of 30 minutes which relates to the conference theme of “Modernizing Insolvency Practices to Address Future and Present Demands”. Applications must be received by 5th April 2024 - using the link in the attached form - https://lnkd.in/e3TUN_Gv The person winning the scholarship will be able to attend the full IAIR 2024 conference in Washington DC with their delegate fees paid and also be eligible for up to £1,500 towards travel and accommodation costs (subject to the provision of receipts supporting the claimed expenses).

For its next conference the IAIR Executive Committee has a working conference theme of “Modernizing Insolvency Practices to Address Present and Future Demands" to include addressing economic trends, evolving technologies, data sharing, regulatory reform as well as the aspects of running an insolvency agency. The success of the conference depends on the IAIR members hence, we are seeking members willing to present/ facilitate a session on any aspects of the above theme. All offers to present should be sent to the Executive Director ([email protected]) by Friday 22nd December 2023. Please include who would be the presenter and an outline of the topic you would wish to cover – this will enable a draft agenda to be pulled together during January.

Our 2023 conference has ended and the IAIR flag has been handed over. Our next conference will be from 17-19 September 2024 in Washington, D.C. hosted by IAIR working in partnership with the Department of Justice, IMF & World Bank Group. The work now begins to determine the conference theme and start planning the agenda.

Asia Hub’s second episode of Vlog series ‘Women at the forefront of Insolvency and Restructuring in Asia’ turns its attention on Phyllis Mckenna the Official Receiver of the Hong Kong SAR Government (HK Govt) and an Executive Committee member of the International Association of Insolvency Regulators (IAIR).
