"Important figures are already campaigning for #Labour to put the Food Strategy Review, led by Henry Dimbleby, back on the table and into action. As part of this strategy, it was made clear the important role unleashing the potential of soilless farming can bring to the country, and the role cultivated meat and alternative proteins can play in creating a healthy food system, which is better for the environment, economy and our food security." Richard Dillon shared this and much more with Cultivated X and vegconomist - the vegan business magazine #futureoffood #foodsecurity #ukgov

London Climate Action Week ended with Food Tank hosting a room full of experts motivated to steer our global food system toward an abundant future. Our CEO Richard Dillon spoke among many other experts, all sharing their thoughts on inspiring systemic change. Thank you to Simon Hall at Google and Danielle Nierenberg for hosting. Our Takeaways: 👀 We must look at decisions through a sustainability lens in every sense of the word. It’s no longer an option where resilient supply chains are concerned. We can’t go back to a time without extreme weather events, but we can build systems that can function in our new reality. Zitouni Ould-Dada 📢 Make noise to keep governments accountable to #NetZero commitments. If they don’t hear about it, they won't care about it. Nothing we do is unconnected. John Gummer, Rt Hon The Lord Deben 🤑 Move away from cheap as best case scenario and start thinking about true cost. When we prioritize longevity over cheapness, we are making the choice to support people who are producing responsibly. Cheap usually means you are not paying the true cost at the register, but you sure are paying it somewhere else. Adele Jones 👩🌾 Build a bridge to farmers. They should be at the centre of conversations that are grounded in reality and what it really means to produce food today. Eating seasonally is an excellent way to work with your local food system. Asma Khan is doing delicious things in this space. 🤝 Explicit standards and Accountability. If we want investment to continue, we need enforceable accountability from governments. Like the EV transition, there needs to be a committed deadline to pivot to new technology to de-risk investment. #Futureoffood #climatetech #cultivatedmeat

The new government will find itself uniquely positioned to lead the world in the transition to a better food system. 🔹 They inherit the legal framework to create the world's most enlightened agricultural policy. 🔹 As the fourth largest importer of food, we can set a global example through progressive trade deals. 🔹 Despite facing the worst diet-related disease levels in Europe, the NHS holds the largest pool of patient data globally, offering unparalleled insights to tackle these issues. 🔹 The National Food Strategy provides a clear roadmap and to do list. With these tools, the government can spearhead a global shift towards a healthier, more sustainable future. Let's hope they seize the opportunity. #FoodPolicy #Sustainability #PublicHealth #Leadership

Introducing Ivy Farm's Meat the Makers, where each month we will feature one of our all-star teammates and the game-changing work they do. Meat Oana Kubinyecz, Scientist on the Cell Biology Team AKA: RNA-seqa Chicka (or Reigning Table Tennis Overlord) Childhood Dream Career: Chief of the Animal Protection Police Favorite Biscuit: would rather have watermelon Why Cultivated Meat: “When it works it will change everything. It will completely change our needs for industrial factory farming and drastically improve our relationship with animals.” In 2021, Oana discovered cultivated meat as the perfect cross-section of her love for science and desire to champion animal welfare. After finishing her PhD at the University of Cambridge, she decided to join the team at Ivy Farm. With her molecular biology background, she is using these skills to understand what cells need to thrive and how can we make them better for our processes -using RNA-seq and other omics. As one of the Directors at Cell Ag UK, she is also working to create opportunities for the industry to thrive and for students to get involved: “I enjoy being a scientist and working on the technology development side of things, but at the same time, I love being involved in the wider Cellular Agriculture space and working on community-building projects, contributing to the growth of the field from a different angle. It gives me a different, wider perspective and I get to meet new people who are equally excited about the space. That’s very motivating!” She was recently appointed Honorary Assistant Professor in the School of Biosciences at the University of Nottingham. Congratulations Oana! We are so proud to have you with us and thank you for all that you do to make the world a better place. #womeninSTEM #womeninscience

One thing you should know about Ivy Farmers? Big food people. Revati Vanjani and ghofran merzouki organised a lunchtime potluck to recognise UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Teams with more diversity are proven to be more creative, better problem solvers, 1/3 more productive, and have an overall more positive work culture. We are so proud of the team coming together so often to celebrate the wonderful people who make Ivy Farm home. #DiversityandInclusion #Potluck #EmployeeWellness #CompanyCulture
