Our #Reimagine strategy has set us on a path of transformation to become the proud creators of modern luxury.    We are pleased to introduce a new hero for our original British adventure brand Defender. New Defender OCTA, built at our plant in Nitra, is the toughest, most capable and most luxurious model in the unstoppable 4x4 family, taking the capability of our Defender 110 to an unparalleled level.    Our proud creators in Slovakia and the UK have worked tirelessly over the past three years to enter realms of capability and robustness that have never been explored before. A bespoke testing and development programme with more than 13,960 additional tests, including high-speed off-road and on-road durability had to be created for Defender OCTA.     The new high-performance, all-terrain hero will make its public and dynamic debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from 11–14 July. #Defender #OCTA

This Pride season, JLR welcomed the combined efforts of colleagues across the globe to celebrate and support our #LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies. We embraced #Pride with colleagues across all our sites in the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Hungary, and in the US, featuring our wrapped vehicles to participate in parades and tour multiple cities in these countries.     LGBTQ+ inclusion is an essential part of our DE&I strategy. It is wonderful to see how these activities have sparked continued conversations and empathy amongst colleagues, further helping to shape an inclusive culture within JLR.     However, our efforts extend beyond a day, a parade, or a season. Our dedication is a year-round commitment, ensuring that every voice is heard, and all colleagues can be their true selves at work, which we believe is essential to reach their full potential – and ours.    We will continue to create a safe working environment through our inclusive policies, allyship from supporting colleagues and education to foster a culture that enables our LGBTQ+ colleagues to thrive within JLR.

Today, on Armed Forces Day, we at JLR proudly join colleagues and extended communities to salute and celebrate the remarkable individuals who have served and continue to serve our country. We launched the Armed Forces Community Network (AFCN) in 2019 to support veterans, Reservists, military families, and enthusiasts. The AFCN offers vocational advice, promotes military charity efforts, and facilitates Reserve recruitment, significantly advancing our commitment to fostering an environment where armed forces personnel can transition into other professions and thrive within our business. Since 2014, we have welcomed over 1,500 veterans into our global workforce, with 180 new hires in 2023 alone. Among our colleagues who have transferred their unique skills from the armed forces is Karen Swanston BSc PGCE After a 20-year career in the RAF, including roles in Iraq and Kabul, Karen transitioned to JLR last year. With the support of our Armed Forces Engagement Programme Manager, Stephen Lees, Karen joined our team at the Halewood plant, where she now plays a vital role in our HR transformation, crucial for promoting our Reimagine Strategy for electric vehicles. JLR has a long-standing association with the UK Armed Forces, as current signatories of both the Corporate and Armed Forces Covenants and holders of the Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. We will continue to support the Armed Forces Community and foster an environment where everyone can thrive. #ArmedForcesDay

We are delighted that our Defender brand is the official vehicle partner for Glastonbury 2024, supporting artists, fans and volunteers at the iconic festival of contemporary performing arts. Defender has been a familiar sight at Glastonbury for the past 50 years, but this year the brand’s presence is slightly different! A fleet of 25 Defender 110 plug-in electric hybrids are supporting the festival’s sustainability strategy, aiming to have every area of its production powered by renewable energy and fuels. At our Defender Camp, we have our innovative new portable Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) produced in collaboration with Allye, which uses second life PHEV batteries to store energy. The fleet of plug-in electric hybrid Defenders will be powered by a combination of Glastonbury’s solar panels and our portable BESS, enabling festival staff and first responders to reach all corners of the 900-acre site no matter what the conditions and with zero tailpipe emissions. Sheila is responsible for one of the most important components in a vehicle, seatbelts. Being involved in the Defender seat belt programme from the start, Sheila and the team faced challenges in functionality, comfort and safety. Sheila talks about the challenge of the D-loop and it’s placement, “I’ve been in this business a long time and I think we cater equally well for men and women.” We know that physical crash testing can be a nervous time for a safety engineer. Sheila’s work helps us achieve the top ratings for safety in our vehicles. Today marks the start of #ArmedForcesWeek2024. This is an important opportunity to show our support for all those who make up the Armed Forces Community; from current serving personnel, reservists, veterans, cadets and their families.     JLR has a proud association with the Armed Forces community. We are honoured to celebrate the 10th anniversary of signing the Armed Forces Covenant and we have also held the Gold Award on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) since 2015.      We have proudly employed more than 1500 veterans globally over the last decade at JLR, recognising the unique skills, experience, and dedication that service leavers can bring to our organisation.      Through regular engagement, volunteering and fundraising opportunities, JLR’s Armed Forces network remains an essential part of our connection to the wider Armed Forces Community past and present. Earlier this month we were delighted 35 of our colleagues had the opportunity to volunteer as chauffeurs during the recent D-Day 80 anniversary events in both Normandy and in the UK. #AFW24 #AFD24
