New article: The Global Pesticides Picture Despite new developments in pesticides and regulations, the global state of pesticides remains largely unchanged. Pesticides are essential for crop yields but can pose risks to health and the environment, while companies are continually introducing new products, prompting constant regulatory updates. Activists and scientists continue to push for stricter controls, citing studies showing negative impacts on pollinators, birds, and ecosystems. However, there is evidence that legislators around the world are easing regulations curbing pesticide use, reflecting ongoing debates about food security and environmental protection. Analytical laboratories play a crucial role in monitoring contamination and ensuring safety standards and LGC Standards offers essential tools to help labs stay up-to-date and maintain testing integrity. Click the link below to read more about the global pesticides picture and LGC Standards' portfolio of almost 6,000 pesticide products that help laboratories around the world keep our food and environment safe. https://ow.ly/IOj550Sp00l #ScienceforaSaferWorld #Pesticides

🚶♂️🌏 'Walk the World Challenge': LGC colleagues are stepping into action 🌍🚶♀️ As we near the end of week two of our 'Walk the World Challenge', the enthusiasm from our colleagues around the world has been inspiring. Over the last two weeks, LGC colleagues have collectively walked over 40 million steps! This global event has united our teams from the US, UK, Germany, Netherlands, India, and beyond, as we share our journeys through walks, strolls, and runs. We have received photos showcasing some breath-taking locations from every corner of the world. Here are just a few snapshots of the incredible places we've explored together during this challenge. As part of this initiative, LGC is releasing £2,000 each week, as we hit our step targets. Here’s how our steps are making a difference: - £2,000 could provide essential family planning and maternal health medical equipment and supplies to a health facility in Somalia for 2 months. - £2,000 could establish and operate two Child Protection Mobile Child Friendly Spaces in targeted communities in Ukraine. These spaces, managed by Save the Children UK travel between remote communities to identify and support vulnerable children in emergencies. Thank you to everyone participating and making a global impact through this challenge. Keep moving, keep sharing, and let’s continue to make every step count! #WalkTheWorldChallenge #MakingADifference #ScienceForaSaferWorld

🗺LGC are walking the world! We're raising money for our corporate charity partner, @Save the Children UK by stepping into action and walking for our wellbeing! Over the next 6 weeks, we will be actively encouraging our LGC colleagues to collectively walk as many steps as possible, whether at work or play, from the commute to and from work, to the dash to the school gates and home again. Every step matters, whether it's through walking, running or working out, each and every step counts towards our collective target. LGC will contribute £15k at the conclusion of the campaign to further support this cause. We're looking forward to getting moving and raising some money to help keep children around the world safe, healthy and learning. #ScienceforaSaferWorld

LGC Petaluma engages the scientists of tomorrow Recently, Kirk Dossat, Sarah Eggert and Julie Vold from our Petaluma team spoke with over 50 students at Petaluma High School, about our work here at LGC and what a career in science is like. The session was for Honors Environmental Science Students (aged 17-18 years old) as part of their ‘careers / futures option’ project. Kirk, Sarah and Julie discussed topics: ➡ Who are LGC, what do we do and how do we deliver Science for a Safer World; ➡ What oligonucleotides are - and how they are advancing various fields of science; ➡ A little background on their own personal career journeys; ➡ Some of the skills and qualifications required to work in our industry; ➡ What a ‘typical day’ at LGC, Petaluma looks like. We were delighted to be invited and have received some great feedback from students and teachers – and have hopefully helped inspire the next generation of scientists! #ScienceforaSaferWorld
