About us

MacKenzie Cameron is an Executive Search business focused on the ClimateTech and Defence and Aerospace sectors. We differ from our competitors insofar as we are built on deep executive experience and network. MacKenzie Cameron is lead by Mike Ritchie-Cox, a British Army veteran who spent 16 years in front line sales, marketing and business unit leadership roles at Vodafone. He has experience in the CleanTech, Professional Services and FinTech sectors as well as leading an Executive Search firm as CEO. MacKenzie Cameron is a purpose based organisation and we exist to make the world of difference to all the people we serve, be they Clients, Partners or Candidates as, together, we succeed. Our Candidates' success is our Clients' success. We are focussed on sectors where we feel we can bring the greatest value and where humankind can make the biggest difference. Our most recent development is a new partnership with Serocor Group, working alongside its brands, Optamor and ARM to deliver a class leading service across RPO, PSL and Search, ensuring our Clients are able to build talent across every level to the same exacting standards. #cleanautomotive #climatetech #cleantech #defencetech #growthpartner #leadership #realisingpotential

What if the very product that drives 7% of all the Earth's #GHG emissions also held the key to reducing human impact on the climate? The cement industry (and thus, concrete) is responsible for a huge slice of global CO2 emissions because of the way it is made today which not only requires significant heat input, but also releases embedded carbon from the raw materials. As this McKinsey & Company article discusses, industry is working on solutions intended to reduce, neutralise and even embed carbon emissions through a selection of novel approaches. Some #startups have tackled the problem from the perspective of capturing and storing emissions through #CCUS, whereas another approach is through the chemical enhancement of concrete mixes through #admixtures which reduce the need for cement. The top of the pyramid, in our opinion, is the use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials #SCM which fundamentally changes the chemistry of the process to reduce emissions and, ultimately, to embed more Carbon than is emitted. The most exciting of these business models provides the opportunity to supply concretes that use waste products and to embed, permanently, airborne CO2 through the curing process. This provides developers with a potential new income stream from Carbon offsetting credits alongside meeting development targets and reducing the human burden on the planet. What's the downside? Time... 2023 has shown us that changes in our climate can happen even quicker than feared. So here it is, an industry that can employ millions of people, create sustainable buildings and infrastructure and permanently embed CO2. Jump on board the #greenconcrete industry now as it teeters on the edge of exponential growth and watch this space to see how MacKenzie Cameron hopes to help propel the most promising startup in the sector to greatness. Who knew that #concrete could be so exciting? https://lnkd.in/eh3kwmqj

In my experience, too little focus is put on landing senior candidates successfully in businesses. We don't expect elite athletes to slot straight into a high performing team without coaching support, yet new starters at Director+ level often find themselves in a "sink or swim" scenario. Having invested time and money in finding, selecting, hiring and onboarding these high performers, surely getting to full productivity quickly would be a priority. We are working on a solution that not only delivers the best available talent, but ensure that they land well and become productive as soon as possible. At MacKenzie Cameron we've often been puzzled why the Executive Search industry doesn't pay more attention to the success of C-Suite candidates once in place. With executive turnover on the rise, many clients are bringing in C-suite leaders from outside. While these external hires bring fresh perspective and expertise, they also face a steep learning curve when it comes to understanding the company's culture, strategies, and team dynamics. This is where we believe executive coaching support can make a big difference. As an executive search business that has placed numerous C-suite leaders into clients, we've seen first hand the value of coaching support during the crucial first 6-12 months. Executive coaching helps new leaders adapt faster, gain credibility, and build relationships across the company. It provides a safe space to process new information, test ideas, and get unbiased feedback. Coaches work with leaders on aligning their style and priorities to the organisation's goals and culture. Research shows that coaching significantly increases new leader effectiveness and retention rates. Given the high cost of C-suite turnover, executive coaching pays for itself many times over by boosting the performance and longevity of new executive hires. Forward-thinking companies make coaching an integral part of the onboarding process for all new members of the C-suite. Investing in their success through coaching sets them up for a faster, smoother transition and greater impact. As organisations look to attract and retain top executive talent, providing coaching support sends the message that they are committed to the leader's ongoing growth and development. This support can make a major difference in how quickly and effectively a newly hired executive is able to positively shape the future of the company. MacKenzie Cameron believes that our job doesn't stop at day 1 for our candidates, so we will be bringing an exciting new offering to our clients to ensure the success of our candidates, thus unleashing the true potential of their businesses.
