‘It’s 5 days in the office or you need to explore options’ WTF. Imagine being told that by your employer in this day and age, unfortunately this is what one of my contacts was recently advised. As a company if you have this mentality you are making it extremely for your employees who are: Working parents Neurodiverse Looking work/life balance Don’t live in a 25 mile radius Carers Struggling with travel costs Looking for a healthier life More productive with flexibility The company also waxes lyrical about their ED & I strategy and how they put people first. Yikes. There is no issue if you want to go in 5 days, thats a choice. However some dont have that choice. Balance is key and is also the future. Cheers 🫡

WORK MYTH: People are made redundant because they’re underperforming in their job WORK FACT: Redundancy happens because of company structure, performance and external factors, rather than individual performance Historically, there’s been some shame attached to redundancy. It’s easy to think you’ve been let go because you’ve done something wrong. The reality is it’s almost certainly nothing to do with you. Companies restructure in response to internal and external pressures, and there’s sadly nothing you can do to control that. Let’s take the stigma away from redundancy, and realise that there are some brilliant people out there in need of their next great role. And if you want some help finding it, get in touch.

This may sound like a 'Blowing my own trumpet post', but bear with me! Over the last month or so I've been involved with a massive project at Marvel FMCG - Certified B Corporation®. Throughout this time, there was a lot of pressure, uncertainty and very hard work, but I was able to really use some of my skills and things I'm really good at to make it easier, which made me feel motivated and proud. I had to draw on loads of: 💡 Attention to detail 💡 An analytical mindset 💡Great communication 💡Logical thinking 💡Looking at the bigger picture 💡Guidance, training & support 💡 Creating a spreadsheet or two (or 20 but who's counting??) My point is that it's ok and great to embrace the things you're good at. Through times of pressure they will be the things that will carry you through. It's no good being stuck in something that doesn't draw on your strengths and bring the best out of you. So consider what makes you, you.....be confident in it and allow it to take you in the right direction for you.

I've been with Marvel FMCG - Certified B Corporation® for a month and a half now - how time flies! Having spent 7 years in recruitment, I knew my next move had to be with a forward-thinking, progressive company that's making a positive impact in the world. Let's face it, recruitment doesn't always have the best reputation and that's why I joined Marvel—because here, people come before profit, and doing the right thing isn't just a slogan, it's our way of life. When you are looking to make your next move make sure you are crystal clear on what is important to you like I did. For me it was being with a business that would continue to push me forward in my career but not to the detriment of my family life. My family mean everything to me and the flexibility and trust here means that I can achieve my full potential personally and professionally. However, for you it could be a move due to location, more money, more responsibility, better work/life balance, more flexibility, a new sector or multiple other reasons. Just make sure you know exactly what is important to you first and go and get it! I can't stress enough the impact that it has on your mental health and wellbeing when you find a business that truly aligns with what you want in life! My journey here is only just beginning, but it is so refreshing to be involved with!
