We back better care, recovery and prevention of mental illness. Supporting patients & families, clinicians and research.
About us
Welcome to Maudsley Charity. We are here to promote positive change in the world of mental health. We support innovation, research and service improvement, and raise public awareness and understanding. We back better care, recovery and prevention of mental illness. We support patients and families, clinical care teams and scientists who are working towards the common goal of improving mental health. Investing with health in mind Working closely with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), which provides the UK’s widest range of mental health services, and the world renowned Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, we help fund ground-breaking neurological and mental health research, service improvements and therapeutic programmes. We are proud of the initiatives we are able to support. We are grateful to be in an environment where there is no shortage of imagination and expertise when it comes to generating ideas how we might spend Maudsley Charity funds. Using donations made to the charity, we invest in and promote projects and research that make a tangible difference to the treatment and care of mental health service users at SLaM, across London and the UK. Great to see our new funding programme mentioned in this report from NPC (New Philanthropy Capital). We heard it is important for funders to support coproduction and collaboration when addressing complex change - and we will support young people facing challenges in our new £10m Building Brighter Futures fund: https://lnkd.in/eWChGRnH. The fund seeks proposals that demonstrate benefit in one of more of the boroughs served by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust: Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Croydon.
🔔 NEW REPORT: The youth mental health crisis Young people’s mental health is facing an unprecedented storm of pressures and crises, with charities often providing vital shelter. Our new report charts the current landscape for children and young people’s mental health, explores how charities are adapting to increasing demand, and highlights priority areas that need urgent investment from funders. We have identified six key areas where funders have the potential to create long-term positive change for children and young people: Preventative work and early intervention. Supporting children from minoritised groups. Building and diversifying the mental health workforce. Funding research on what works. Enabling collaboration across the mental health sector. Exploring a systems-based approach to funding. Find out more and join in the conversation 👇 #MentalHealth #Charity #Philanthropy #Children #YoungPeople
