All airlines have to be efficient, but some are more so than others, and Low-Cost Carriers (#LCCs) are adept at driving efficiency in their business. Every percentage point, second, or sale can equate to lower fares and larger profits for the #airlines. But how do they manage this on a constant basis? LCC airlines can achieve an average of 13 flying hours each day, with 20% more seats than legacy airlines, and have taken best practices from other industries, including Formula 1, to implement time-saving ideas - frequently turning around an aircraft in just 35 minutes. Emirates officially opened its Travel store in Hong Kong on 19 July 2024, its first in the East Asia region, as the airline looks to amplify its reach in the area. Hong Kong is connected to 38 mainland Chinese cities, and the Travel store could help promote #Emirates' role as a connecting hub. While the number of airport pairs offered by Middle Eastern airlines is roughly the same (1,603 against 1,592 in 2019), 459 airport pairs have disappeared, a near 28% churn in only six years - a surprisingly high number. What's going on? Writing for AGBI - Arabian Gulf Business Insight, John Grant considers the global events and opportunities airlines are seeing in the Middle East and how they are constantly adjusting schedules and assessing the operational risks of their networks to maximize potential. One such example is the Qatar - Saudi Arabia routes. In the summer of 2019, there were no direct services between the two countries; today, there are 4,930 spread across eight routes.
