We've been so excited to have Steph Ashby, our Head of Business Development join the Mobilise team the last couple of months! 🥳 Of the many exciting things planned, Steph will be helping us: 🫶 Supercharge our relationships with new and existing partners 🌱 Manage various business development projects to reach more unpaid carers across the country (...and beyond!) 💥 Find more opportunities to strengthen the impact of our services for our partners Some fun facts about Steph 👀 Steph says that she doesn't have enough hours in the day for all of her hobbies and interests - from piano, to gardening, dancing (latin and ballroom with an ex-Strictly professional...), dressmaking and knitting, reading and, ubiqitously, yoga. Not to mention lots of cooking and food! 💃 🧑🍳 🎹 📺 Plus, you may have already caught her on the telly on 'Back in Time for the Weekend!'.

🌟 Empowering unpaid carers through peer support 🥰 For those of us caring for a family member of friend, connecting with others who truly understand can be a lifeline. At Mobilise, we believe in the power of community and the incredible impact of peer-to-peer connections. In our latest video, Lucy and Mohammad Awais from the Carer Support Team explore how unpaid carers can benefit from a 24/7 support network - that offers valuable insights, shared experiences, and much-needed encouragement. "It's not like a paid job where you have an annual appraisal or a line manager telling you that you're doing a great thing. But that's actually what our community does." Watch this space for more videos featuring this awesome duo. #CarerSupport #PeerSupport #CommunityEmpowerment #UnpaidCarers

If you've been following us for a while you might remember Maeve's story. Well, we have an update on how Maeve is doing now! When Maeve's partner was diagnosed they believed he only had months to live, so she devoted all of herself to caring for him. He is doing miraculously well and has outlived the medical professionals' predicted life expectancy. While this is wonderful news, Maeve has realised that the way she had been living wasn't sustainable, and that she needed to start prioritising herself. Through engaging very intensely with Mobilise, Maeve has shared she is regaining her identity. And feels able to start processing what she has been, and still is going, through. We have followed her mental shift to looking forward at a life beyond caring - thinking about reentering the workplace once her partner passes. Maeve even recorded a video sharing the ways in which Mobilise had helped her which she allowed us to share with our team. Life at a startup can be fast paced and full on, but seeing carers like Maeve start to thrive is our 'why'.

According to our research, being able to take a break is the highest priority for 38% of the carers we asked. But 47% of those carers have not had a holiday since they started looking after their family member or friend. The Express explored this further in their article featuring James Townsend, Almost half of unpaid carers in the UK haven't had a holiday - link in the comments #TheUrgentNeedForRespite #CarerSupport #UnpaidCarers

If you’re gearing up for your CQC assessment, you don’t need to face it alone. We hosted a CQC roundtable with representatives from local authorities across the country sharing their experiences. And there were lots of learnings in line with the CQC’s questions for lead members, from a Readiness Review case study, to collaborating with Children’s Services and linking in with partners in the ICS. And the good news is…you can get a quick summary of everything we discussed in our roundtable report! There’s a link to download it in the comments. The roundtable was a real success and we have lots more events lined up to help us all navigate the the opportunities and challenges facing carer support. Make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter to secure a space at our next event - just tick the sign up box when you’re downloading the roundtable report. #CQC #HealthcareCompliance #ReadinessReview #HealthcareLeadership #QualityAssessment #KnowledgeSharing
