The internet accounts for 4% of global emissions, so what can advertisers do to become more aware and take accountability for the part they play in global warming? To help spread the word on how Multilocal is working to reduce advertising's environmental impact in the programmatic space, we partnered up with MI Media. "Multilocal’s proprietary Active Curation process, CarbonSmart eliminates unnecessary bid requests, ensuring effective impression delivery and performance while significantly reducing carbon emissions. This high-performance, low-emission ad campaign solution is validated by Cedara, the leading carbon intelligence platform," says MI Media. Partnering up with companies that align with your environmental values is integral in the current climate we're living in. Thank you to MI Media for having us be a part of this. Last night in a major shift, Google decided to scrap its four-year effort to eliminate cookies from its Chrome browser. The move to keep cookies comes after several setbacks and delays, with both digital advertisers and regulators expressing concerns about Google's proposed replacements. PMW spoke to a panel of marketing leaders to ascertain how the sudden u-turn will impact marketers plans going into the golden quarter. Read the full reaction and more via the link in the comments. Looks like the #cookie doesn't crumble... In the latest news that Google is backing out of its plans to deprecate third-party cookies, the industry is split between being shocked, relieved and confused. In an exclusive comment for Performance Marketing World, Fern Potter shares her thoughts: "There is an absolute need for the technological alternatives we have seen develop over the last few years - audience discoverability (whether from cookies, IDs, context etc), should remain at the centre of how we work towards a consented open web for individuals, and a fair monetisation of audiences and content for publishers," says Fern. “One digital campaign emits the same amount of carbon emissions as 7 people in one year,” says Rachel Powney. Taking to the Female Leaders' Club Leaders' Club this morning at MAD//FEST alongside SeenThis’s Marcela Oguntoye and The Digital Voice™’s Julia Linehan, Rachel Powney represented the team in a discussion on the very important need to take the leap to lead sustainably in #advertising. Some standout takeaways included: Wastage: The digital advertising industry faces significant waste due to the growing number of impressions, many of which are duplicates. This oversupply, without matching demand, greatly impacts the industry’s carbon footprint. Audience curation effectively addresses this issue by minimising unnecessary impressions. Our curated campaigns inherently promote sustainability, reducing CO2 emissions by 50-80%. Cost: Low-carbon or carbon-saving campaigns should be standard practice. We should not be charging extra to run sustainable campaigns. With the technology and data available, we can achieve this without additional costs. We do this with our own carbon solution CarbonSmart Mainstream Sustainability: Sustainability needs to become more mainstream, with increased education and recognition as a business priority. Experts can help set frameworks and legislation, but ongoing conversations about our successes and failures are essential for progress. It was great to be a part of such an important discussion, highlighting some really important issues that #curation can help to solve. Missed our session and want to find out more? Dear gentle listeners... Wow! I’ve made it to ten episodes!* 🎉 A massive THANK YOU to everyone who’s been listening on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or via the Women WithAI™ web page (or watching on YouTube, (𝑠𝑠𝑠ℎℎℎℎℎ 𝐼 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑘 😉 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑓𝑜𝑟 ‘𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝐴𝐼’ 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑙𝑙 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚....)). Every listen (and download!) helps and I’m learning so much about AI as I go along, so I hope you are too. The biggest takeaway I’m discovering is about bias in AI and how women can help shape the future by getting involved now and learning how to use the AI tools available to make the world better, not worse. The latest episode came out this week - have a listen! In fact have a listen to all of them, or pick the ones you want to listen to and let me know what you think. Like and share your favourite episodes or give me your feedback - I’m learning how to be a podcast host on the job (dress for the job you want!) so all advice is gratefully received. If you have any recommendations for people you’d like to hear me speak to, let me know and I’ll do my best to get in touch with them. Or if YOU’d like to come on the podcast so WE can chat about AI let’s do it!! 🤩🎙️ It’s my podcast so if you want to come on the show and have a chat let me know!! Thank you to all my fabulous guests so far Sophia Matveeva, Izabela Russell, Julia Linehan, Natalia Talkowska, Catherine Breslin, Louise Brogan, Fern Potter, Mumtaz Khamker, Joy Dean and thank you to David Brown for offering me this opportunity 🙌 Women WithAI website 🌐 https://women.withai.fm Spotify 🎧 https://lnkd.in/erp2g-2d Apple Podcasts 🍏 https://lnkd.in/eEMGsPTS YouTube 🎞 https://lnkd.in/e8SXQj7t #WomenWithAI #podcast #podcasting #artificialintelligence #AI #podcastspeaker #podcasthost #womenintech #womeninmarketing #womeninbusiness #inspiringwomen *90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3!
