What if packaging made people feel good, not guilty? For too long, takeaway food packaging has been loaded with chemicals and hidden plastics, used to stop the grease and moisture in our food leaking through. But despite the claims of being "plant-based" or "aqueous-lined", these traditional barrier materials are causing a heap of problems for the planet and human health. So we created something that's nature-approved. We apply our unique, seaweed coating solution to the inside of paperboard packaging, forming a natural greaseproof barrier. The packaging keeps all of the functionality required, but it's when you're finished that the magic really starts. Thanks to the all-natural construction, Notpla can be disposed of safely in any waste stream. With millions of items of single-use plastic replaced with Notpla's packaging, we're helping to end those guilty bin decisions for good. If you're keen to see Notpla used in your business, get in touch today for a chat and to request some free samples --> [email protected] #PlasticFree #Sustainability #SustainablePackaging

From the very first Ooho hatched in our Founders' student kitchen, to the 10 millionth piece of single-use plastic replacing packaging that rolled out of a factory this year; innovation sits proudly in very core of Notpla. You'll find it in the people we hire, the partners we work with and in the materials we make. And so, when we recently found out that Notpla has been named a finalist for The Innovation Award at the The Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards, it was a special feeling. Being acknowledged alongside the UK's most innovative businesses is both an honour and a reminder to us of the impact we can make when we push boundaries. We’re motivated to keep driving change and providing next-generation innovations for a more sustainable world. Thanks to everyone who's supported our journey and stay tuned for the big reveal later this year! #Sustainability #PlasticAlternative #BritishBusinessExcellence

As it nears the end of the working week, if we could ask for just one, final piece of information to enter your brain it would be this: PFAS is a forever chemical that's used in lots of food-service packaging on the market today. It really isn't great for us humans - nor the planet - but at Notpla, we've created a solution that's ready to help. In this quick video with Hoa - Notpla's Head of Impact and Sustainability - you'll learn that: ⚪ PFAS are a group of chemicals that take thousands of years to degrade and have been classified by the World Health Organisation as carcinogenic. ⚪ They're used in many items of food packaging - often in moulded fibre or 'bagasse' products - to create a grease-proof barrier. Worryingly, these products often claim to be "eco-friendly" and sustainable. ⚪ Claims like "No added PFAS" is no guarantee there's no PFAS in the product - a recent UK study found PFAS in every bagasse product tested. ⚪ The EU have taken regulatory action and will be placing bans on food-contact products containing PFAS with the UK expected to follow. 🟢 Notpla's food packaging is all completely PFAS-free, plastic-free and a healthy solution for people and planet. 🟢 We've created a range of drop-in replacements for existing products which use our 100% natural, seaweed coating to give the necessary grease-proof barrier. If you've got any questions or would like to learn more about this important topic, we're always happy to chat - just drop us a message. If you're looking explore our seaweed-based packaging solutions and think they could be a good fit for your business, take a look here --> https://lnkd.in/eaNu3JSb If you're logging off for a nice weekend in the sun - enjoy! ☀ #PFAS #SustainablePackaging #Notpla #Foodservice

Who's keen on a story of adventure, solidarity and hope? 📽 🌊 X Trillion is a film that follows the gruelling journey of an all-women crew, led by Emily Penn as they sail 3,000 miles across the North Pacific Ocean through the densest accumulation of ocean plastic on the planet to make the unseen, seen. The 14-strong international crew of scientists, sailors, designers, engineers, and teachers set sail on a transformative, month-long voyage. The women leave families and land behind, coming together battling high seas, storms and sea sickness, to carry out cutting edge microplastics research and investigate the crisis of plastic pollution in one of the most remote places on Earth. At Notpla we're truly inspired by the crew's gigantic efforts to shine the light on some of the more unseen problems that plastics create. And so it was a true pleasure for us to be invited to join a Q&A session at the end of one of their recent screenings in London. Our Innovation Director, Karlijn Sibbel explained how our plastic-free materials aim to offer a solution to the problems that the crew uncovered and how their efforts inspire our whole team. Tickets to screenings across the UK are still available and we couldn't recommend it any more highly. Find your local screening here --> https://lnkd.in/eXmGHrUK cc. 'Not plastic'. It's in our name, but what does it really mean❓ With plenty of materials claiming to be plastic-free, it's becoming increasingly tricky to know who to trust when selecting packaging materials for your business. To take away the guesswork out, the European Union set out a clear definition when they implemented the Single Use Plastic Directive. Have a swipe through to understand more about what it takes to be classed as 'not plastic' and share this with someone who you think would find it interesting, too. #PlasticFree #SingleUsePlasticDirective #SUPD

At Notpla, it all starts with seaweed 🪸 While we had our friends from Levy visiting us at Notpla HQ recently, it felt only right to take them to where each and every plastic-free solution begins for us - the lab. As one of nature’s most impressive resources, we love to show off the process behind how we take this diverse, underwater species and turn it into a single-use plastic replacement - all ready to make a change at scale. The power of seaweed, huh? If you're in the market for the next generation of sustainable packaging solutions - or if you just want to see us used by your business - take action today and drop us an email: [email protected] #SustainablePackaging #PlanetEarth #PlasticFree
