Today marks Earth Overshoot Day, when the whole planet exhausts its allocated natural resources for that year (a terrifying idea). A huge thanks to Elle Chartres & Sam Woodman PIEMA REnvP from Ad Net Zero who presented to Team Open Media UK last week to educate the team about the significance of this date, and how the advertising industry is working together to introduce regulatory action and targets for a better future. Seeing the global dates laid out by the Global Footprint Network below, it's hard not to imagine how much later in the year the UK's individual date could land if every industry, business and person were united in their efforts to decarbonise.
