🚨 Nearly 7,000 people are estimated to be killed or injured in #Gaza by the Israeli military during UK Parliament recess. That's just 33 days. Until the UK Government stops the sale of arms to Israel, the UK is complicit in the killing of civilians in Gaza. The UK must stop ALL arms sales - there can be no more delays. As Parliament heads into recess, we laid nearly 2000 flowers representing the estimated number of people to be killed or injured in Gaza during recess and the number of hostages still in captivity. It's time to #StopArminglsrael. Gaza can't wait. JOIN US to demand URGENT action: https://lnkd.in/dNDZPP4q

A global movement of people who won't live with poverty.
About us
Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty - together. Oxfam fights poverty in three ways: Campaigning, Development and Emergency Response. Campaigning for change: Poverty isn’t just about lack of resources. In a wealthy world it’s about bad decisions made by powerful people. Oxfam campaigns hard, putting pressure on leaders for real lasting change. Development work: Poor people can take control, solve their own problems, and rely on themselves – with the right support. Fighting poverty, we fund long-term work worldwide. Emergency response: People need help in an emergency – fast. We save lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and we help people prepare for future crises. Oxfam also has around 670 shops in the UK and an online shop selling over 100,000 volunteer-listed second-hand clothes, books, music and collectables, plus Fairtrade and ethical gifts: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop Interested in working for Oxfam? 🚨 Nearly 7,000 people are estimated to be killed or injured in #Gaza by the Israeli military during UK Parliament recess. That's just 33 days. Our analysis comes as the UK Government continues to allow arms sales to Israel, despite knowing that they are likely to be used to commit war crimes in Gaza, breaking international law. This includes components for F-35 Israeli fighter jets. We demand the UK Government immediately suspends all arms sales, both existing and new to Israel or through other countries. There can be no more delays. People have laid nearly 2000 flowers to symbolise those who are estimated to be killed in Gaza during recess & the number of hostages still in captivity. Foreign Secretary David Lammy: the UK must stop ALL arms sales now. Gaza can't wait. Join us and demand action: bit.ly/StopArming_Israel #StopArminglsrael

If our planet is sick, then so are we… Here’s why we need to pay closer attention to the link between human wellbeing and the health of our planet. 🌎 Welcome to Ep. 4 of Climate+ our five-part series all about the intersectionality of climate change and social justice, created in partnership with Earthrise Studio This week we’re exploring planetary health — the idea that human wellbeing in the long term is dependent on the wellbeing of the earth including living and nonliving systems. 💚 We speak to Ashley Lashley, a climate activist and teacher from Barbados who has created a platform to educate people on the role climate change has played in making disease outbreaks more frequent in their home country and beyond.

⏰🚨 TIME TO WALK THE TALK 🚨⏰ Over 650,000 people have called for a permanent #CeasefireNOW in Gaza with us. Together we demand action, not just words. Yesterday, we delivered this message to: ➡️ Prime Minister, Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street ➡️️Foreign Secretary, David Lammy at Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office We’re calling on the Government to #WalkTheTalk. Since Labour won the election both the Prime Minster and Foreign Secretary have spoken in support of an immediate ceasefire. They have also announced that the UK will restart funding the main aid delivery organisation in Gaza, however they urgently need to do more. Gaza can’t wait. It's time to turn words into action and help bring about a permanent ceasefire immediately. The message is clear: Act now for Gaza. #CeasefireNOW Photo Credit: Andy Aitchison / Oxfam
