📣 We want to hear from you! There’s just one week left to fill out our survey on PERT shortages: https://bit.ly/3W0OxSY We know how vital access to PERT is for those affected by #PancreaticCancer. If you’ve been impacted by the current shortages, please take 5 minutes to complete our survey and help us address this critical issue. We know how worrying and stressful these shortages can be. If you’re having problems getting PERT, get in touch with your dietitian, hospital team or GP for advice. You can also contact our specialist nurses on our Support Line for information and support. Unfortunately we can’t help you access PERT, but we can help with managing symptoms linked to a lack of enzymes: https://bit.ly/3DJrjWz We also have more information about dealing with PERT shortages on our website: https://bit.ly/3Qlh6J6

People with pancreatic cancer can have problems with eating and digestion, either due to the cancer or the treatment for the cancer. The pancreas makes enzymes which break down food. But when someone has pancreatic cancer, they might make fewer enzymes, or the cancer might block the enzymes from getting to where they need to be. That means the food doesn’t get broken down (digested) properly and the body doesn’t get all the nutrients it needs. This can cause symptoms like: • losing your appetite • weight loss • indigestion or heartburn • changes to your poo • tummy discomfort or pain • bloating or wind Find out more about managing these symptoms and taking pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT): https://bit.ly/49fHk7k

In March this year I took up the Cathedral Cycle Route Challenge, a 1,825 mile journey to visit all 42 Anglican cathedrals in England in memory of my sister Sheila, whom I recently lost to pancreatic cancer. So far, the journey has taken me from Newcastle to London, visiting 19 cathedrals on the east side of the country. I'm raising money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK and am hugely grateful to all those who have helped me raise over £10,000 on my pilgrimage so far. I have 1,100 miles and 23 cathedrals to go, and this will take me from Canterbury to Truro to Carlisle🚴♂️. If you would like to make a contribution, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/eHX9SNGd ... and you can read about my travels here: https://lnkd.in/emVUNDHJ

Sadly, on the 29th of January this year, Alastair Rolfe lost his sister Sheila to pancreatic cancer, less than four months after her diagnosis. In memory of Sheila, and drawing from her ‘can-do’ attitude, Alastair has taken up the Cathedral Cycle Route Challenge, a 1,825 mile journey to visit all 42 cathedrals in England. The journey will take him the length and breadth of the country, and he has already raised over £10,000! 🚴♂️ Last Thursday, he was joined by colleagues from Spencer Stuart to cycle to both St Paul's Cathedral, London and Southwark Cathedral. Thank you so much to you, Alastair, for all you have done in memory of Sheila. We wish you all the best for the next leg of your journey! 💜

Yesterday, hundreds of people across the UK took steps and took a stand against pancreatic cancer as part of the 5th annual #TheBigStepForward 👣 Today, we’re pleased to say that this incredible community has raised £178,772 so far! What a team! 🎉 A huge thank you to every single one of you who helped enable our specialist nurses to continue to be there for those affected by pancreatic cancer, and helped fund much-needed research to detect early, treat better, and save lives. We are so grateful to you all. 👏✨💜
