This week, we're celebrating Nonbinary Awareness Week, a time to recognise, honour, and uplift nonbinary individuals in our communities. Nonbinary people have existed throughout history and across cultures, yet often face invisibility and misunderstanding in a world that frequently assumes a gender binary. Nonbinary is an umbrella term for those whose gender identity falls outside the traditional categories of exclusively man or woman. This can include identities such as genderfluid, agender, bigender, and many others. Each nonbinary person's experience is unique and valid. We invite everyone to learn more about nonbinary identities, reflect on assumptions about gender, and consider ways to make our spaces more inclusive. Remember: Respect people's pronouns, avoid gendered language when unnecessary, and listen to nonbinary voices. Let's continue building a world that celebrates the full spectrum of gender identities. 💛🤍💜🖤 #NonBinary #GenderIdentites #LGBTQIA

Braverman's Bigoted Rhetoric Has No Place in Society! As the CEO of Pride in London, I am deeply troubled and angered by the recent comments made by former Home Secretary Suella Braverman regarding the Pride Progress flag and LGBTQ+ rights. Her divisive and hateful rhetoric has no place in the diverse, tolerant society we are working to build. Ms. Braverman's claim that the Pride Progress flag represents the "mutilation of children" is not only factually incorrect, but it is a malicious attack on the very existence and identity of trans and non-binary people. The Pride Progress flag is a symbol of inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, including trans, intersex, and non-binary individuals. It in no way endorses the harming or medicalisation of children, as Ms. Braverman so crudely suggested. This is not the first time Ms. Braverman has espoused such regressive and discriminatory views. As Home Secretary from September 2022 to January 2023, she oversaw policies that eroded hard-won LGBTQ+ rights and emboldened anti-LGBTQ+ voices. [1] Braverman was a vocal opponent of banning conversion therapy, arguing that it should still be allowed for transgender people.[2] She also supported proposals to require schools to inform parents if their child came out as trans, which many LGBTQ+ advocates criticised as undermining the privacy and safety of trans youth.[3] Additionally, Braverman made multiple public statements questioning the validity of transgender identities and the need for gender-affirming healthcare, rhetoric that was viewed by LGBTQ+ groups as emboldening anti-trans sentiment.[4] Under her tenure, the Home Office was accused of deprioritising LGBTQ+ equality issues and failing to sufficiently address hate crimes and discrimination targeting the community.[5] Her continued crusade against the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community is deeply concerning and has no place in modern, tolerant Britain. The LGBTQ+ community and our allies will not be silenced or cowed by this hateful rhetoric. We will continue to proudly fly the Pride Progress flag, to celebrate our diversity, and to fight for the equal rights and dignity of all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. As the CEO of Pride in London, I call on Ms. Braverman and all public figures to abandon their bigoted views and embrace the inclusive, diverse future that the vast majority of Britons desire. The Pride Progress flag is a symbol of hope, acceptance and belonging - values that should be celebrated, not denigrated. 🏳️🌈 #LGBTQ #PrideProgessFlag #LGBTQIA #POLITICS

As Londoners basked in the joyous glow of another vibrant Pride celebration, it's important to temper that elation with sober recognition of the challenges that still lie ahead. The streets of the capital were alive with colour, energy, and an unapologetic assertion of identity. It was a powerful, inspiring display – a testament to how far the fight for LGBTQ+ equality has come. But the harsh realities faced by our community globally serve as a sobering counterpoint. Across 64 jurisdictions, same-sex relationships remain criminalised, with almost half of those being Commonwealth nations. 40 countries go so far as to outlaw consensual sexual activity between women. And in the most egregious cases, 12 nations impose or permit the death penalty for private, same-sex acts – with 6 of them actively carrying out these executions. Beyond the threat of legal persecution, transg individuals in 14 countries are explicitly targeted through "cross-dressing" and "impersonation" laws, while many more use broader statutes to harass and oppress LGBTQ+ people. Even in places where rights have advanced, our community still faces workplace discrimination, barriers to healthcare, and the constant risk of violence and social ostracisation. These are the harsh realities that underscore the vital importance of Pride and the unfinished work of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. By amplifying the voices of our global community and supporting their courageous efforts to secure basic human rights, we can honour the sacrifices of those who came before and fulfil the promise of a world where everyone can live authentically, without fear of persecution. Pride in London stands as a beacon of hope for LGBTQ+ individuals across the world who still cannot safely and openly express their identity. The path ahead remains long and arduous, but the spirit of Pride burns brightly. Let us channel that flame to illuminate the darkness, to challenge the forces of hatred and intolerance, and to build a more just, inclusive, and equitable world for all. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #LGBTQ #PRIDE #LGBTQIA
