Tomorrow, members of the Protolan team will be challenging themselves to conquer the three highest peaks in the Peak District! ⛰️ We are undertaking this 21-mile hike in aid of Mind to raise funds to support their life changing work. Today marks my 3-year anniversary of working with Protolan Limited. It has been quite the busy year for me with lots of big markers. Two large ones are completing my Management & Leadership Apprenticeship with Chartered Management Institute and The Apprenticeship College and becoming a Chartered Manager, and then I also secured a promotion within Protolan, bringing more responsibility, independence and challenge to my role. Thank you very much to everyone who has supported me this year especially my family and Tiegan. I would also like to mention that the Protolan team and I will be approaching the Derbyshire Three Peaks challenge next weekend where we have to walk 21 miles within a limited time. My 9-week summer placement at Protolan Limited as a Project Engineer has officially come to an end, and it's been an incredibly rewarding experience! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have learned so much about project management and consultancy in the food industry. 👷🍽️ This internship has not only enhanced my communication and time management skills but also allowed me to adapt and embrace the dynamic nature of project work. I had the chance to get involved with two exciting projects based in Glasgow and Norwich. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 In Norwich, I gained valuable on-site experience and witnessed the sheer scale of these projects firsthand. A huge thanks to Shayne Ford for his guidance and support, which helped me grow both personally and professionally! 🌟 The Glasgow project was challenging due to its constantly changing nature. However, with Walter Turner help, I was able to quickly adapt and get to grips with it. I'm particularly grateful to Hugh Cruickshank for his kindness and making the time to review work with me, which kept me on track, reinforced my time management skills, and boosted my confidence through constant feedback – very much appreciated! 🤝🤝 The work atmosphere at the office has been a highlight. The ability to remain productive while fostering friendships has been a pleasure. Thanks to Dawn Wright, Samiya Zaman, Giacomo Zazzara and Sabika Rizvi for being so helpful and showing me that work can be fun! The collaborative environment has truly inspired me. 😁 Lastly, I want to thank the entire team at Protolan for being so welcoming and warm from day one. It's been great getting to know each of you and cant wait to see what everyone gets up to! 📍 I'm leaving Protolan with a deeper understanding of the project management industry, along with improved technical, communication, and planning skills. Thank you again for this invaluable opportunity! I look forward to applying what I've learned in future roles. 🔜

🚧 Making Great Progress! 🚧 We’re still in the early stages of constructing a new pet food production facility for our client, and it's amazing to see the progress already. As part of the Protolan Limited team, I’m proud to be working on this exciting project, which involves not just the construction of the plant but also equipping it with machinery and all the technical infrastructure. With Protolan’s focus on delivering practical, innovative solutions for food and drink manufacturing, this facility will truly set new standards. Join us in celebrating the promotions of two Protolan team members, Eleri M. and Felix Thomas-Davies!   This promotion highlights their overall growth in Project Engineering, driven by enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication. In their short time at Protolan, Eleri and Felix have advanced from supporting food and beverage projects to leading them.   Our Director, Richard Whittle, said, "They've both been pivotal in delivering recent high-profile projects and fully deserve to make the next step in terms of responsibility and recognition. I am very pleased to share that I have graduated from the University of Nottingham with a First Class MEng with Hons in Chemical Engineering, including an Industrial Year at Protolan Limited! 🎓 It was also an honour to be awarded the Year 4 MEng Project Poster Prize for my research in “Optimal process conditions of Biochar-CLC using Cu-based Oxygen Carriers”. I would like to thank Dr Fatih Gulec and Dr Gabriela Duran-Jimenez for their support and guidance. 🏆 I have thoroughly enjoyed my 5 years in Nottingham and would like to give a special thank you to my family, friends and department staff who have supported me along the journey! What a fantastic few weeks it’s been for the Protolan team! 🤵 The MDS Ltd Annual Conference Protolan has proudly been a member of MDS for over 10 years, securing graduates who contribute across all areas of our business. Business Development Executive and MDS Alumni, James Cooper, attended the awards and highlighted the opportunities Protolan offers to current trainees. 🏆 The Food Management Today Industry Awards We attended the awards in London, where we proudly sponsored the Best New Product Development Award, presented to Marks and Spencer. It was a wonderful chance to celebrate the remarkable achievements within our industry. 🎯 Our Team Building Day We got our game faces on for a day of shooting and archery, with a team lunch in between. It was a fantastic day to socialise and thank everyone for their incredible work in the first half of 2024. Congratulations to our winners of the day, Felix Thomas-Davies, Benjamin Edney, and Jacob Simpson.
