This #ZeroWasteWeek, we wanted to share that we have teamed up with our incredible partner Only A Pavement Away to use our surplus stock to provide soup to homeless people. The Fill a Flask campaign began in 2018, providing coffee and water to those in need. We wanted to support the cause by adding a more nutritious dimension, helping the community whilst avoiding wasting our redundant soup stock. We've done this as part of our 'Doing Well, By Doing Good' programme, helping our People, the Plane and Pubs. All of us are on a path and we know we have a long way to go to get where we want to be, but we aim to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2028. Since our involvement, Only A Pavement Away has delivered over 2,000 portions of soup to UK charities, including Brighton Food Bank, Edinburgh City Mission and Birmingham City Mission Care Centre. Now to explore new ways to stop waste and nurture the needs of vulnerable people in the process. #zerowasteweek #punchpromise #whatyoudocounts #pineappleswithpurpose #netzero #esg #doingwellbydoinggood

Today, we downed tools and headed for a woodland clean at the picturesque Cannock Chase. Thank you to our committed and longstanding partners Molson Coors Beverage Company and Biffa, who made this possible. With the support of eighty dedicated volunteers, we made a real impact on an area of natural beauty. Cannock Chase MP Josh Newbury also joined us. Thank you also to our operators at the Leaping Wolf and the Hen House pubs for their fantastic efforts in rallying passionate volunteers from their communities. The Hen House team went above and beyond as hosts, ensuring everyone was well taken care of and providing a wonderful space for us to come together and strategise on ways to help our pubs protect the environment over the coming year. With everyone's commitment and dedication, we are making a difference for future generations. #doingwellbydoinggood #punchpromise #whatyoudocounts

We're ecstatic to have won the charity cricket battle of the Titans for the second year running - matches between Punch, Admiral Taverns and Greene King for the incredible charity Only A Pavement Away! Although we must confess, there were some nail-biting moments. The first opponent to play us was Greene King, and we were feeling strong after our first win. We were initially lulled into a false sense of security riding on the wave of victory. But this was interrupted when we faced Admiral Taverns and succumbed to a fantastic display of line and length bowling! With one win apiece (Greene King defeated Admiral), the final result rested on a five-player bowl-off. Five players from each pub co, including the three CEOs – Clive Chesser, Nick Mackenzie MRICS and Chris Jowsey, took to the field to see which team could hit the wickets the most. With the bails undisturbed heading into penultimate ball, Jon Dale Dip CIPR, MCIPR limbered up, having surprisingly been bowled out twice in the previous match, held his nerve and hit off stump, turning the tide with a memorable moment the team calls 'Dale's Redemption'! Then, the last bowler stepped up for Admiral, and you could have heard a pin drop due to the tense atmosphere, but they missed, meaning Punch took the crown for the second year running! Each team had epic moments, and above everything, it was a chance to get away from our desks, get active and fundraising for an incredible charity supporting those vulnerable in society: Only A Pavement Away. Thank you to all at Trentside Cricket Club, who were incredible hosts and kept the team fed and watered with a buffet, drinks and barbeque. It’s great to see another one of our fantastic pubs thriving!👌🍻 The Rutland Arms in Bottesford reopened this June following a £130k investment that has transformed this beautiful pub into a family-friendly village pub and restaurant. The investment has injected new life into the charming pub which proudly boasts something for the whole community. Publican Russell Wheatcroft said: “The Rutland Arms has been a prominent pub not just in Bottesford but also in the Vale of Belvoir for many years and is a central meeting point for so many. “The investment was important to allow us to maintain our reputation in the village, and being able to offer a wide selection of food and drinks also helps to keep the pub vibrant.” You can read more about The Rutland Arms’ investment, as well as other successful pub stories, here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eY3f8znF

It was a pleasure to welcome two of our new local Labour MPs to Jubilee House yesterday. Jacob Collier (Burton & Uttoxeter) and Josh Newbury (Cannock Chase) met CEO Clive Chesser and other members of the Punch team. They were given a tour of our progressive Pub Training Academy, sampled some menu concepts in our state-of-the art Development Kitchen, learned more about a number of Punch’s ‘Doing Well, By Doing Good’ initiatives and discussed the Labour Party’s commitment to safeguarding pubs across the UK, and our policy asks to support this plan and ensure our pubs not only survive but thrive. Punch Pubs & Co reposted this
Punch Pubs & Co, the Clive Chesser-led business, has reported strong current trading, including a record sales day for its management partnership division, and said the boost from Euro 2024 game days helped offset weaker trading from poor weather. In its trading update for the 40 weeks to 10 May 2024, the company said that trading to date in the following quarter has been “encouraging, with profitability ahead of the prior year”. 👉 For the full version of this story and to read it first sign up to the Propel email newsletter for free: https://lnkd.in/eyy_THzR
