We believe in squeaky clean data! A solid data strategy starts with mastering the four basic operations of data management, known as CRUD. These steps are fundamental to any data strategy, ensuring that individuals and systems know who, how, when, and where they can interact with data. ➡ Create: This step involves the initial input or generation of data. In PDM, creating data can include adding new product specifications, design details, or customer requirements. It's crucial to start with accurate and complete data to ensure a solid foundation for all subsequent processes. ➡ Review: Reviewing data is about validating and verifying its accuracy and relevance. In PDM, this means cross-checking product information against standards and ensuring it meets quality criteria. Regular reviews help prevent errors and maintain data integrity, which is vital for decision-making and compliance. ➡ Update: Data is dynamic, and updating it is essential to reflect changes in products, specifications, or market conditions. In PDM, updating data ensures that all stakeholders have access to the latest information, reducing the risk of outdated or incorrect data impacting production or customer satisfaction. ➡ Delete: Deleting data might seem straightforward, but it's a critical step in managing the data lifecycle. In PDM, it involves removing obsolete or redundant data to keep the system clean and efficient. Proper deletion practices help prevent clutter and potential confusion, making it easier to manage and retrieve essential data. These CRUD operations are the backbone of effective data management in PDM. They help ensure data is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant, which is crucial for driving efficient product development, maintaining compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making. By focusing on these fundamentals, we make sure our data stays reliable and ready for action. Say goodbye to messy data and hello to a streamlined, efficient data strategy. Let's keep it clean, folks! #CRUD #DataStrategy #CleanData #DataQuality #Leadership #PDM #PLM

Following up on the second half of our discussion about the future of product data management with our CEO, Adam Blomerley, where he highlighted a critical evolving challenge — ensuring data quality in an era where artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly integral to business operations. "As we navigate the complexities of product development, the traditional methods of ensuring data quality must evolve. The integration of sophisticated anomaly detection systems and alert mechanisms is becoming essential." At Quick Release_, we've recognized that the fusion of human expertise with emerging technologies is not just beneficial but necessary. "The interplay between our data-literate workforce, the latest AI technologies and other, current, technology is crucial. This synergy is what allows us to enhance our data management practices continuously and ensure they meet the demands of modern product development," explained Adam. Highlighting a proactive approach, he added, "Moving forward, it’s imperative that we not only react to data quality issues but anticipate and address them before they impact our operations. This proactive stance on data management is what will set industry standards in the years to come." Adam also discussed the dual necessity of maintaining a skilled workforce while embracing technological aids. "It's clear that while our teams are highly skilled, the addition of advanced technologies can propel our capabilities even further. We're looking at a future where our data quality efforts are augmented by AI, ensuring that our standards not only meet but exceed the expectations of our industry." We urge our peers in the industry to consider how they can also blend human expertise with technological innovations to elevate their data management practices. So again we ask: What strategies have you found effective in maintaining or improving data quality in your organization? #ProductDataManagement #DataQuality #AIinBusiness #PDM #PLM #TechInnovation #FutureOfWork #DataDriven #WorkforceAndTechnology #InnovationLeadership

In a recent exploration of the evolving business technology landscape, our CEO, Adam Blomerley, shed light on the crucial role of data literacy in mastering today's and tomorrow's technological challenges. As the era of generative AI unfolds, the importance of data literacy echoes louder than ever. "Reflecting on QR_’s origins," Adam shared, "our initial challenge was bridging a significant data literacy gap within our major automotive clients—a sector that heavily relies on sophisticated Product Data and Lifecycle Management. This gap isn't just a relic of the past; it’s resurfacing with today's rapid technological advancements." Adam emphasized that the advent of generative AI introduces complex new data challenges, demanding not only technical solutions but a profound understanding of product data itself. "Are our teams equipped with the knowledge necessary to leverage the full potential of AI within the context of Product Data Management? Are they fluent enough in managing and interpreting complex product lifecycle data to drive responsible innovation?" These are critical questions Adam poses to the industry, urging all organizations to reassess and enhance their data literacy. He also highlighted QR_’s commitment to data literacy as pivotal, not just for staying competitive but for fostering an environment where innovation is driven by a deep, insightful understanding of product data. "This is how we turn challenges into opportunities and continue to lead in an era where data literacy will increasingly define the limits of business success." So, we ask you: How are you ensuring that your teams are prepared to handle the data-centric challenges of tomorrow, especially in the realms of Product Data and Lifecycle Management? Let’s share insights and strategies to cultivate a universally data-literate future. #DataLiteracy #GenerativeAI #PDM #PLM #ProductDataManagement #Innovation #TechnologyLeadership #AIinBusiness #DigitalTransformation #DataDriven

QR_ had an incredible experience at the Farnborough International Airshow! 2024 provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with industry leaders, explore the latest innovations, and participate in insightful discussions. From aerospace advancements and sustainability initiatives, to diversity in the workforce and supply chain challenges, the airshow was a melting pot of ideas and collaborations. Here's our top four takeaways: ➡ Quantifying engineering efficiency is hard… but not impossible. And it's important in the current landscape of constrained engineering resource combined with material and complexity-driven cost. The industry needs more engineers, and better organisational retention of those it has, but to bridge the immediate gap smarter deployment of existing resource is a must, but only meaningfully possible with a measure of engineering efficiency. Ben Fletcher has detailed thoughts on this, and would love to discuss specific contexts. ➡ There's an appetite for aero to learn from auto when it comes to scaling manufacturing operations. We've all seen the reputational damage that can result from quality shortcomings when internal processes and external suppliers aren't properly aligned to a given production level, and as much as the regulatory frameworks differ, auto knows volume and there are transferable lessons and approaches. William Smith knows the auto side of this inside out and is well positioned to advise on practical steps to identify the most applicable lessons, while Sam Hirst has been the design-to-line journey partner for a number of start-ups needing to nail it first time. ➡ Supply chain considerations still keep people up at night. More localised sourcing was a recurring theme, as was lack of real-time whole supply chain visibility for those operating in complex consortium environments. UK Director Paul Crabtree and Claire Gibson, prior to becoming QR_'s ADS Practice Lead, were involved in many of these projects and have seen their impact on both production flow and scrappage rates.   ➡ Data underpins everything, but becoming data-driven for organisations with the size and complexity typical of the sector remains a challenge. The appetite for large top-down transformation schemes has diminished, with a renewed focus on better use of existing data to drive decision-making. This often comes down to visibility and reporting rather than a lack of raw information, and significant improvements can be realised within a matter of months. However, this only works at a whole-programme level if the approach is used to systematically eliminate each bottleneck, not simply tackle the worse and in turn make something else the limiting factor. Marcus Youden would be delighted to chat through context-specific issues around this. Always an insightful and engaging experience at the Farnborough International Airshow! We'd love to hear your thoughts on these key takeaways and how they resonate with your experiences.
