Wales has it's first female First Minister! Llongyfarchiadau to Eluned Morgan 👏 As someone who understands the sector and once sat on our Strategy Group, we wish her the best success in championing renewables and Wales' clean power mission. This is a critical moment for Wales and the UK’s economic future. We could be delivering over 9GW of wind power by 2035 if we use our devolved powers to full advantage and work collaboratively with the new UK Government to position Wales in a pivotal role in the UK’s ambition to become a clean energy superpower. But there are many factors holding back delivery of clean energy projects today, and an inherent challenge ahead to face them. We look forward to working closely with the new First Minister and her cabinet colleagues to address these and deliver energy security, jobs, community benefit, environmental benefit and economic growth for the people of Wales. In unity there’s energy – Mewn undod mae ynni #Firstminister #Eluned #Wales #renewables

Top stories today 🪁 GB Energy proposals fail to temper offshore wind concerns https://buff.ly/46z29cK The current formation of Great British Energy has failed to assuage fears raised by renewable energy developers. Not only do current proposals not go far enough but additional proposals under consideration also fall short, according to RenewableUK head of strategic communications Nathan Bennett. 🟢 Can we act fast enough to hit 2030? https://buff.ly/4cafI3P The government has pledged to speed up the development of critical energy and water infrastructure. But how will it overcome concerns about community and environmental impacts? George Simpson of property consultancy Fisher German LLP asks whether it's time for a more radical approach. ⚠️ Mooted new energy efficiency standard branded ‘obsolete’ already https://buff.ly/4ccwcZ3 Scotland’s mooted new buildings energy efficiency standard would be "obsolete" before it even comes into force, according to the country's solar sector. Solar Energy UK criticised the proposal because it contains no requirement for on-site renewables. It comes after The Scottish Government published a consultation on a new set of building regulations, which are closely modelled on the widely-admired international Passivhaus standard.

Following the lifting of the effective ban on onshore wind development in England, the new Government has wasted no time in establishing an Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce, as called for in our 2024 Manifesto 🙌 ➡ https://lnkd.in/eBK_QF6p The taskforce met for the first time this week and will focus on unlocking the barriers to deployment across the UK, reinvigorating the industry in England and ensuring the country fulfils its ambition of radically increasing onshore wind deployment by 2030 and beyond 📈 Bringing together key organisations from across Government, industry and other stakeholders, the Taskforce features a number of RenewableUK members, alongside Chief Executive Dan McGrail, and it has four key objectives: 🎯 https://lnkd.in/ex_Mf4gE
