🌍 A BIG thank you to our brilliant volunteer, Stephanie Njonjo, who did a smashing job representing us at the Kenyan Construction Professionals Summer Get Together Event this past weekend. Stephanie was front and centre, enthusiastically promoting Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust with our fresh-off-the-press flyers and raising crucial funds towards her pledge for the London Marathon in April 2025. Your dedication and grit, Stephanie, are truly inspiring. The Rhino Ark family is incredibly grateful for your commitment to conserving Kenya’s precious ecosystems. Wishing you the very best of British luck with your fundraising efforts—we’re right behind you! #SupportRhinoArk #RhinoArk #RhinoArkUK #RhinoArkVolunteers

🌧️ We’re thrilled to share the impact of our Rainwater Harvesting Projects in four primary schools around the Aberdare ecosystem: Bondeni, Njengu, Talau, and Kamburaini. With the generous support of the Forrester Family Trust through Rhino Ark UK, these projects are tackling water scarcity and transforming lives! By ensuring access to clean water, we’re not just improving health and hygiene for students; we’re also enhancing education and economic outcomes for entire communities. And we're not stopping here! Thanks to our incredible fundraisers from the London Marathon 2024 and Ride London Essex 2024, we’ll be bringing these life-changing systems to six more schools. Together, we’re building climate resilience, fostering community engagement, and creating sustainable futures for our children. 💧 #RhinoArkPartnerships #RainwaterHarvesting #RainwaterHarvestingProject #SustainableSchools #CleanWaterForAll #RhinoArkUK #CommunityImpact Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust

The Geta Forest Tree Nursery focuses on nurturing indigenous tree species that are perfectly suited to our region’s ecosystem. Managed by Rhino Ark and deeply rooted in community involvement, the Biodiversity Challenge Funds supported nursery currently holds 68,539 seedlings, all aimed at rehabilitating our forests. Here are the 10 native species we're cultivating: 🌱 Juniperus procera (African Red Cedar): Known for its durable wood, this tree is vital for building and carpentry. It thrives in high-altitude areas, making it ideal for the Geta region. 🌱 Olea africana (African Olive Tree): This evergreen tree is drought-resistant and plays a crucial role in preventing soil erosion, a common challenge in our area. 🌱 Hagenia abyssinica (Rosewood): Often found in montane forests, Rosewood is essential for maintaining the biodiversity of highland regions. 🌱 Nuxia congesta (Brittle-wood): A versatile tree that supports wildlife, Brittle-wood is vital for maintaining the ecological balance in our forests. 🌱 Rapanea melanophloeos: This tree is excellent for reforestation projects due to its adaptability and the role it plays in water conservation. 🌱 Warburgia ugandensis: A medicinal tree, it is highly valued for its healing properties and contributes to the health of both people and the environment. 🌱 Dombeya torrida: This species is known for its fast growth and ability to stabilize soils, making it perfect for degraded areas. 🌱 Prunus africana: With its bark used in traditional medicine, this tree is crucial for both biodiversity and local healthcare. 🌱 Podocarpus falcatus: This evergreen tree is excellent for timber and thrives in high-altitude, moist areas, supporting the local economy and environment. 🌱 Yushania alpina (Bamboos): Bamboo plays a key role in soil stabilization and water conservation, critical in our mountainous region. These species are not just trees—they are lifelines for our forests, our communities, and our future. By focusing on indigenous species, we're ensuring that our reforestation efforts are sustainable, resilient, and in harmony with nature. #ForestRestoration #RhinoArkPartnerships #RhinoArkTreePlanting #RhinoArk #TreePlanting Rhino Ark UK

Work on the Kibiri fence line has commenced, marking a critical phase in preserving the Kakamega Forest, Kenya’s last Guineo-Congolian rainforest. This project is vital for protecting the forest's rich biodiversity, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and preserving its delicate ecosystem. On July 11th, 2024, the Mpesa Foundation conducted a field visit to the construction site. Partner inspections like these are crucial as they ensure that projects are on track and help strengthen collaboration, accountability, and transparency in our conservation efforts. A huge thank you to all our partners including NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT TRUST FUND (NETFUND-Kenya), UNDP, Safaricom Foundation, Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Wildlife Service KWS, the COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KAKAMEGA and Vihiga County governments, and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we’re taking vital steps to ensure the Kakamega Forest continues to thrive for generations to come. Stay tuned for more updates. #RhinoArkPartnerships #KakamegaForest #RhinoArk #RhinoArkFences #PartnershipsInAction #SustainableFuture Rhino Ark UK
