About us

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated care organisation, providing care in the community at over 20 health centres and clinics as well as services such as district and school nursing. We also provide services at the Royal Bolton Hospital and received a 'Good' overall rating from the CQC in July 2016. We have three fundamental aims:- • Best care for better health (for our patients and our community). • Responsible use of resources (for the taxpayer). • Valued, respected and proud (by our staff, patients and public). We aim to:- • Meet the health needs of our population. • Improve the safety and quality of care. • Improve patient experience. • Make our services more efficient. The Trust employs over 5000 members of staff, on full or part time, permanent and fixed term contracts. We also have a number of different ‘banks’ of staff who work on an as required basis for the Trust. You may be surprised how many different job roles the Trust has; it is certainly not just doctors and nurses (although they do make up the majority of our workforce). At Bolton, we are committed to supporting and developing our staff from when they first start in the organisation. If you would like to find out more about working for the Trust and the vacancies we currently have available please visit the NHS Jobs website: www.jobs.nhs.uk and search for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Charity Manager for Our Bolton NHS Charity 💙 Girls’ Section Coach at Blackrod Cricket Club 🏏♥️

Two great experiences of featuring on local radio in as many weeks. The first was on Drivetime with David Dockerty, talking to Gareth Price about how his recent experience of exceptional care at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust motivated him to do yet more fundraising for Our Bolton NHS Charity. And by fundraising, I mean cycling up Mount Ventoux just 80 days after a total knee replacement! The second was on the financial wellbeing show with Kaye Price DipPFS CeMAP Financial Wellbeing Planner to talk about the importance of supporting local charities, how gift aid can stretch your donation by a further 25% and the impact of leaving a gift in your will. Thank you to 96.5 Bolton FM for supporting our work and providing a great platform to share our stories.

  • A senior specialist nurse at the Royal Bolton Hospital has been accepted as the first nurse from Bolton to join the Florence Nightingale Fellowship. The Florence Nightingale Foundation offer the prestigious fellowships as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop nursing or midwifery careers, whilst also improving clinical and health outcomes. As this is the first year that the trust have joined the foundation, Chief Nurse, Tyrone Roberts grasped the annual opportunity to nominate a member of staff to join the fellowship programme. Anna Muscolino was selected due to her commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Anna works on Bolton’s CURE team, who work to try and support patients away from smoking and nicotine addiction. Tyrone said: "We are extremely proud of Anna, our very first Florence Nightingale Foundation Fellow. The CURE team are an incredible team of specialist nurses offering a tobacco dependency treatment service, helping patients to go smoke free. “This is a fantastic opportunity to build on our service, using the expertise and guidance from the Florence Nightingale Foundation and is a key part of supporting our nursing colleagues with their ongoing professional development. “I selected Anna for several reasons, not least the impactful role specialist nurses have, with a wealth of knowledge, they interact with patients and colleagues across many areas. Their ability therefore to also champion and influence the highest standards of fundamental care (outside of their specialist role too) is significant. “Anna’s nomination illustrated all of the above, alongside ongoing work to drive down our smoking rates. Smoking is the single largest preventable cause of death in England including in Bolton, as up to two in three smokers will die as a result of long-term smoking. “I’m very excited for Anna and can’t wait to hear how the fellowship progresses." https://lnkd.in/eXJ2Xzey

  • Our Bolton NHS Charity have thanked a couple who are raising thousands for our NICU, after their baby son received life-saving care. Chloe and James Jones returned to the hospital with their now 20-month-old son, Jude, to receive a certificate of appreciation. They also reunited with the neonatal consultants and nurses who provided around-the-clock care to look after Jude, who was born 15 weeks prematurely and spent 122 days at the hospital in November 2022. Chloe and James launched a Go Fund Me, which stands at almost £20,000. Jude’s dad, James, plays for Wrexham AFC, and their fundraising pot had a £10,000 donation from owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. And Jude showed he's quickly following in the footsteps of his dad. • A report has found that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Bolton enjoy positive experiences and outcomes from local services. A joint inspection was carried out by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission in June, and the full report can now be read online - https://lnkd.in/dWct_GEA Inspectors focused on how effectively the local authority and the integrated care board (ICB) jointly plan, develop and evaluate services, for children and young people with SEND. Key partners across the NHS, schools, education providers, early years and the Bolton Parent Carer Forum also contributed to the inspection process. The report finds that SEND service providers in Bolton are “passionately ambitious” for children and “inspire a culture of care and creativity”. Inspectors highlighted several areas where the SEND partnership in Bolton is performing well. These include the involvement of children and families in care planning, strong collaboration between partners, and effective work to prepare young people for adulthood. https://lnkd.in/diz7cbsy

We’re really proud to launch a new five-year strategy that sets out our vision to improve care and transform lives for communities across Bolton. To help bring that vision to life, we’ve created a short animation to explain where we’re going between now and 2029. Five key ambitions have been developed using the knowledge, experience and ambition of colleagues, based on what matters to local people, to help guide what we deliver. These ambitions are: Improving care, transforming lives A great place to work A high performing, productive organisation An organisation that’s fit for the future A positive partner
