Did you know that seagrass plays a major role in supporting biodiversity and alleviating climate emergencies? Since 1936 approximately 92% of the UK’s seagrass meadows have been lost. RSK Group company Salix River and Wetland is working with Project Seagrass to restore the UK’s lost seagrass meadows. Their goal is to be able to grow and supply seagrass plants and seed for restoration schemes throughout the UK. Salix Technical Director David Holland said: “A vital part of this ambitious goal to rejuvenate seagrass meadows around our coastline has been the development of a seagrass nursery facility to supply seeds and mature plants to projects throughout the UK. Without a reliable supply of local provenance seed and mature seagrass plants, restoration efforts will be limited.“ Would you like to find our more about this project? Congratulations to Emily Chissell on achieving Chartered status with the Geological Society. ✨ Pursuing chartership was important to Emily as she felt it would give her recognition of her abilities and allow her to set an example and support junior staff as they progress with their careers. She said that “My experience took longer than expected, but that’s okay. No one should ever feel disheartened if it takes a long time to achieve Chartered status. Once you do, the overwhelming feeling will be sheer pride in what you’ve accomplished.” Would you like to hear more about Emily's experience?
