Salix has been assisting CAN and BAM UK & Ireland with Network Rail's South West Rail Resilience Programme along the Dawlish Coast. Almost 20,000m2 of steel rock netting and soil nails have been installed to stabilise the cliff, with Salix’s #Coconet800 coir erosion control blanket installed underneath. The #Coconet800 will provide instant erosion protection, whilst supporting vegetation which can colonise the cliff face. It represents a cutting-edge approach to wider native species production, supporting a diverse range of plants crucial for maintaining healthy ecosystems. Our innovative facility will enable us to propagate and nurture native species on a scale never before possible, enhancing biodiversity and resilience across all UK environments. Seagrass meadows, for instance, are vital for providing habitats, improving water quality, and sequestering carbon.
