Rob Amey and the SAMEE team have been supporting a young man trying to get a bank account. He has no photo id for personal reasons so opening a bank account was nearly impossible. Sammy Everard FIOEE, FIEP, FRSA and Rob have been talking to different banking groups trying to get our disabled young people the support they need to open an account when identification is a major challenge. Simple things like living at home mean that they do not have a bill in their name, the GP surgeries are not wanting to issue letters to confirm identity now and most things are done online so there are no “letters” As a team, we are trying to raise awareness of the support needed to do the simple things in life - like open a bank account and have the opportunity for independence. More needs to be done … But in the meantime, a big shout out to Lloyds Banking Group who have gone above and beyond to support our young person. Meet Ewan from Elm Photography! 📸 Ewan is the first intern on our new programme!! An amazing update from Claire about her children’s autism book. She has now sold 123 copies of 'Ally the Acorn has Autism - Ally's Sensory Overload' on Amazon! 🌿 📚 Additionally, two local shops in her town are selling it on their shelves. On the back of this, Claire has written and produced a second book 'Ally The Acorn has Autism - A Guide To Me' which is also available on Amazon – 5 copies sold already! Now she’s onto her 3rd book. One of our supported self-employment internship learners is currently working with SEND4. He is offering a photography service so that their team can create social media content, impact reports and other documents for marketing purposes. These opportunities are so important to encourage our young SEND learners to grow and shine :) Big shout out to Ewan !
