  • this is a typical architecture student journey ↓ the filled circles represent areas where there is a great amount of support, from programmes such as Open City Accelerate, Beyond The Box CIC and other mentoring and making initiatives. however, the industry is currently lacking in support for architecture STUDENTS, including apprentices and those in part-time education some may say to wait for systematic change to the route to qualification and skill-building across universities, but what about the students studying architecture right now? they are the next generation of architects after all once you find that golden door of opportunity 🚪 and get your foot into practice, things do seem much easier, especially with experience under your belt so to help young creatives bridge that gap, we’re looking to partner with studios across London (for now!) and host portfolio sessions for recent graduates and keen students for more information, check out the website: https://lnkd.in/em-q-Tii — If this was insightful, consider re-sharing ♻️ and follow me, Sana, for more content like this! 🍒 Keep up with me daily on Instagram → @to.scale

  • and just like that, we’re back for SEPTEMBER 🍂☕🍐 This month’s Open Studio is hosted with Alison Brooks Architects for our first women-only event! ‘Only 31 per cent of the UK’s architects are female’ (AJ Survey 2023) women are hugely underrepresented in the architecture community, which is why we are celebrating women in all stages of their careers to support and empower each other through conversation, mentoring and connection. at this event, you will be able to connect with women in practice from a diverse range of backgrounds, seek mentorship or simply have a conversation about your own journey! it’s also a great opportunity to connect with like-minded creative individuals and broaden your own network come along with some of your work, an idea, your portfolio or just you! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e_nax6Te#womeninarchitecture #openstudio If this was insightful, consider re-sharing ♻️ and follow me, Sana, for more content like this! 🍒 Keep up with me daily on Instagram → @to.scale

What was your first experience in an architecture practice? Was it when you were younger, tagging along with parents or family members? Or a work experience opportunity you had during the summer? Maybe it was your first job? But not all young creative people have the chance to see what an architecture practice is really like. That’s why this Autumn, we’re looking to partner with more practices than before! We can help you host Portfolio sessions or any kind of workshop that will benefit young creatives in the architecture and design industry. With access to a global student community, we’re hoping to bridge the gap between education and practice by opening your studio for an evening. Get in touch with Sana at [email protected] for more

  • Short snippets of our Open Studio with dMFK a couple of weeks ago, focusing on portfolio prep for architecture students and graduates ↓ We had a lovely time and a full turn out with a range of attendees from students in London to graduates across the UK, all keen about networking in practice and gaining feedback from architects on their portfolios. Aside from the portfolio sessions, it was also a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and seeing some of our regular attendees and friends show up too - a growing community! Really excited for the next chapter of Open Studio, keep your eyes out for upcoming workshops this Autumn. If you’d like to work with us to give back to the architecture community, find amazing talent and support the next generation of architects, please email [email protected] 💌 — If this was insightful, consider re-sharing ♻️ and follow me, Sana Tabassum, for more content like this! 🍒 Keep up with me daily on Instagram → @to.scale

In the run-up to the #AYAs, for which dMFK is a finalist for both 'Office Architect of the Year' and 'Refurbishment and Reinvention Architect of the Year', it's great to see Chancery House featured in Building Design. Read the interview with dMFK Associate Director Dan Ruddick here: https://lnkd.in/eYS7zTQf. As one of our favourite projects of all time (not just 2023!), Chancery House starred in both of our award entries. A collaboration with interior architects Norm Architects, it truly is a workplace-redefining retrofit. Architecture drawings aren’t just plans and sections. How do you figure out an immensly complex project where all of the details are inside your head? I know we all lean towards 3D modelling or rendering as a fast and high-quality method of design exploration But what if you were able to make parts of your project richer by figuring out all the small details… I’m going to walk you through how I came up with project objectives, crafted a narrative, used references and iterated on my drawings to create a dystopian masterplan in my latest YouTube video. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/en6N7d7S #architecturedrawing #youtube #masterplan
