Nearly three-quarters (71 per cent) of people with complex mental illnesses tell us that they had faced stigma and discrimination in the world of work in the last year. And this isn’t the only place where stigma is occurring. People with experience of severe and enduring mental illnesses are withdrawing from opportunities in relationships, healthcare and education as a result of stigma, according to our latest research. We want to remove the barriers which stop people gaining and maintaining employment – and we need the support of employers and organisations Scotland-wide to do it. About us
See Me is Scotland’s national programme to end mental health stigma and discrimination. There is a significant problem with people in Scotland being able to speak openly about their mental health in the workplace. Through See Me in Work we are engaging with employers and supporting them in making changes to their work practices, to improve the working lives of employees with mental health problems.
