We provide high quality water to approximately 750,000 people in parts of Surrey, Sussex, Kent and south London.

About us

We are a water-only company, supplying drinking water to more than 750,000 customers in East Surrey, West Kent, South London and parts of West Sussex. 85% of our water supply comes from the deep aquifers in the chalk of the North Downs or the large deposits of greensand south of the Downs. We also source 15% of our water supply from the River Eden and it’s stored in our Bough Beech Reservoir, near Sevenoaks in Kent. Water is an essential, and increasingly precious, resource. We understand its value and are committed to sharing this knowledge with our customers – helping to preserve the environment and secure future supplies. But actions speak louder than words, and we will only achieve our goals by working hard and in partnership with the community we are privileged to serve. Please call 01737 772000 in an emergency.

New initiative at Elmer Treatment Works: The Bee Bank 🐝 We’re excited to share the news about our latest sustainability project – a Bee Bank specifically designed for native mining bees. Unlike honeybees, these solitary bees burrow into bare ground to create their homes. Our Bee bank provides a vital habitat for these important pollinators, helping to sustain biodiversity and promote a healthier ecosystem. This project is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. If you have a garden or outdoor space, you can create your own Bee Bank to support local pollinators. Together, we can make a difference – one bee at a time! 🌸 #Sustainability #Biodiversity #BeeBank #EnvironmentalStewardship #Pollinators

At a time when the industry is under so much scrutiny 💩- clean water only companies can easily be over looked. SES Water is the only water company in the UK to have customers connected to two treatments works ✅ the only water company to have a fully operational smart network ✅ the only water company to achieve biodiversity awards for our sites ✅ and to top it off, our amazing education centre Flow Zone is teaching future generations why we have one of the highest water quality scores in the UK 💦 Getting these positive areas in the spotlight is no easy task - but has been a real driving force behind our communications strategy. It’s brilliant to open up the doors for our colleagues to share their passions in these areas.

This week, we were featured on ITV Meridian’s three-part series about the water industry. Our Wholesale Director Tom Kelly was interviewed, and spoke about the resilience of our network, our investment in our infrastructure and our approach to innovation. In addition, our Education Centre Flow Zone was also featured, showcasing the great work that our team does every day to host school visits and educate future generations about the importance of water and how it is made safe to drink. We enjoyed the opportunity to share our education programme more widely, and hearing directly from the pupils themselves!

Our Kenley treatment works team had a surplus of large static water tanks that they no longer required, and would need to be disposed of or scrapped. Instead throwing them away, we reached out to our community to see if these repurposed tanks could be of use to local farms, stables and clubs, for activities like harvesting and storing rainwater for their fields. It was a great initiative to build relationships with our community and see how the tanks were repurposed. Thanks to our teams at Kenley, in Operations and Catchment Management for organising!

Last week we hosted 12 students, aged 15-18, from seven schools and colleges for our annual Work Experience Week. The week featured activities providing an overview of SES Water and the industry as a whole. Students also visited our Bough Beech Reservoir and attended sessions with various teams across our business to learn more about a career in the water industry. The week culminated in a project, with the students presenting their work to senior members of our team. Many thanks to all of our colleagues who organised and participated in providing this experience, and to the students for their great work, input and engagement!
