✨ Celebrating World Afro Day 2024! ✨ This 15th September, we proudly celebrate World Afro Day, a global event dedicated to honouring Afro-textured hair and the rich culture it represents. Founded by Michelle De Leon in 2017, this movement aims to educate and raise awareness about the beauty of natural Afro hair while tackling the discrimination that still persists today. World Afro Day isn’t just about hair—it’s about identity, pride, and inclusion. From the powerful symbolism of the Afro during the Civil Rights Movement to today’s ongoing fight against beauty standards that marginalise natural Black hair, this day is a reminder of the importance of encouraging everyone to embrace their whole selves and to stand against hair-based discrimination. Join the celebration by learning about the cultural significance of Afro hair, sharing stories, and supporting inclusive practices in schools and workplaces. Let’s ensure that everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves, without fear of bias or judgement. 💪🏽✨ https://buff.ly/3ksSDyX Have you experienced hair discrimination? Did you challenge it? Would you know how to support an employee upset by others touching their afro hair? Let us know your thoughts. Our consultants work closely with leaders and their teams to analyse an organisation’s current standing with diversity, equity, and inclusion. We focus on practical, implementable strategies with an intersectional approach. These tools and solutions help foster consistent, positive movement toward a more inclusive space for everyone involved. We work with arts organisations to build a robust long-term strategic plan to maintain and elevate positive progress and help organisational leaders remove barriers to better support their team. We give practical support by creating, delivering, and implementing actionable, measurable training plans tailored to the organisation’s goals and needs. We offer guidance, validation, and understanding to individuals who are experiencing discrimination and providing tools to navigate difficult, even unacceptable, situations.

🌍 September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month Sickle cell anaemia is the most severe form of sickle cell disease (SCD), most commonly affecting those of African or Caribbean descent. It presents lifelong challenges due to abnormally shaped red blood cells that can block blood vessels, causing painful episodes known as "sickle cell crises." These crises, along with an increased risk of infections, anaemia, strokes, and lung issues, require ongoing care. 🔍 Early detection is crucial. In England, prenatal testing and newborn screenings help identify the condition early, allowing for timely treatment. 💡 Despite the complications, many with SCD lead fulfilling lives with proper care and support. This month, educate yourself, donate blood if possible, and ensure workplace support for those managing the condition. Let’s raise awareness and stand with the SCD community! For more information, visit the Sickle Cell Society where the society also dive into the links between Netflix’s Supacell and how it raises awareness of SCD. https://buff.ly/2GRRkLD #SickleCellAwareness #SickleCellMonth #HealthAwareness

After years in education as a primary school teacher and headteacher, I’ve returned to my first passion—music. We founded Buzz Music and Arts CIC to bridge the gap between music, education and the community, offering instrumental music lessons, workshops and community music groups that are fun, engaging, and tailored for all abilities. Having a background in school leadership, behaviour management and SEND support has helped us create an environment where everyone feels valued. There really is something special about seeing someone's face light up when they discover their love for music and the connection it brings. #EducationToMusic #LeadershipJourney #PrimaryEducation #MusicAndLearning #InclusiveEducation #Community #CommunityMusic #Connection
