My last two blogs were providing some ideas on visiting St Andrews and/or Edinburgh. Today's blog will give you some other options, some of which would tie in with a visit either to Edinburgh or St Andrews. If you are an Outlander fan you will spot a few filming locations, if you love modern Scotland there is something in it for you too.

In my last post I described some options to visit the Home of Golf, St Andrews and other parts of Fife, more precisely East Neuk's fishing villages. Today I would like to invite you to explore options in and around Edinburgh. I often begin at Calton Hill, especially if it is a sunny day. From here you get a manificient overview of the old town, which was built on a vulcanic ridge.

A den is usually referred to a hideaway often in a secluded wooded area, whereas a broch dates back to the Iron age and is a hollow walled tower, which was used for defensive purposes.

The western highlands are quite remote but there are unlimited activities to entertain yourself, your family & friends and also your best -four-legged friends.As an icing on the cake you could support green and mindful businesses.Let me tell you how: You can start your tour anywhere in Scotland and you may end it somewhere else. For this adventure I would recommend Glenuig Inn as a base.
