Storytelling is one of the most influential tactics teams need to master. Why? A series of brilliant rapid talks on learning followed by mojitos and networking on a roof top is hard to beat! Great to see everyone 🍹 Thanks again The Learning Network for an excellent event in Brighton last week hosted and sponsored by Mint Learning, Plus X Innovation and Instructional Design Tips. Tom McDowall did a fabulous job as MC! As part of a compelling agenda, StoryTagger's Carl Hodler stepped on to the red carpet for an 8-min talk on ‘Engaging users with UGC’. Here are eight reasons (one per minute!) why real world peer stories and UGC are critical for L&D to meet business goals: 📍 Connection 📍 Trust 📍 Relevance 📍 Context 📍 Application 📍 Influence 📍 Impact  📍 Behaviour change Thanks also to Carl Crisostomo for asking a great question about how to help nervous colleagues share their story. Well, taking the jeopardy away and helping people recognise the value of their story goes a long way. This includes making sure storytellers understand: 💁🏽 Why they’ve been selected outlining their achievement, what’s in it for them and purpose of sharing 💁🏽 How sharing individual stories is culturally supported through your company values and behaviours 💁🏽 Scaffolding, prompts and suggested timings to give them structure 💁🏽 But, also autonomy over what to say 💁🏽 How their story will be used Well done to all the other speakers too Emma Klosson Greg Arthur (FLPI) Shalini Seghal Rebecca McDowall MSc Ben Collier and the wonderful warm welcome from double act Paul Service - Digital Learning Founder 🚀 and Michael Ditchburn. The #StoryTagger Team are already looking forward to the next one. PHOTO CREDITS: Daisy Cliffe and Mint team #UGC #Engagement #LearningTransfer #BehaviourChange

We love this work experience story! It's a great application of #StoryTagger and a brilliant example of the value you can share in a 150 second video. Miriam Speidel, Senior Manager of L&D, Inclusion and Diversity at Triple Point invited Aoife Jewell to share her story on #StoryTagger. Not only is it clear that Triple Point has an incredible work culture, there’s also lots in Aoife's experience that we can all learn from whatever stage of our careers. Great job Aoife! Congrats Miriam! Thanks so much for sharing and tagging #StoryTagger. #Advocacy #StructuredStorytelling #Culture

Aoife you’ve been a dream to work with! From day one of your work experience with Triple Point you grabbed every learning opportunity with a ‘let’s do this’- attitude, from doing the boring but necessary stuff like admin 👀 to facilitating your first ever session 🙌, nothing seemed too much or too daunting. You even tried to keep the inflation low and steady at 2% 👊 …at the bank of England Museum 😎. Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, being such a fab team player and for all the fun! We will miss you, but now off you go and blow their minds at Uni! You have a super bright future ahead of you! How do you help your people make their best pitch? Need to level the playing field?   For many of us, work is connected by a series of pitches from interviews, performance reviews and proposing new ideas to fundraising, selling to our colleagues or customers, and securing investment.   The list is endless! And, the skills associated with any pitch are valuable, transferrable and necessary for success. So, we’re not surprised THE PITCH is one of the most popular use cases for #StoryTagger right now.   When 'the pitch’ is competitive, or connected to learning, you need clear criteria, a solid brief, and mechanism for people to share it in a simple, compelling way - making it easy for everyone to watch, review, judge like-for-like and learn.    The ‘graduation’ or end-of-programme pitch, for example, is a leadership programme staple, but many facilitators find this hard to deliver.   Common challenges include:   ⌛ Getting people to stick to the pitch brief and timings 🧭 Setting the right amount of guidance 🙌 Building confidence so the best ideas rise up and everyone is empowered to give it their best shot 🛠️ Challenging logistics with too many channels and different media formats 💨 People simply not turning up to share their pitch in live sessions   Storytelling techniques are key to a successful pitch. When people can follow a pre-set narrative arc, brief and timings everyone involved has the ‘freedom within a framework’ to make their best pitch.     It's brilliant to see teams solving these long-standing challenges with #StoryTagger.   If you're interested in seeing how you can use #StoryTagger for both formal and informal pitching activities, get in touch 🚀   #LeadershipDevelopment #PitchingSkills #Storytelling

Employees as influencers and change agents. Real work stories from our peers shift mindsets and behaviours like scarcity shifts stock! So, what’s the ONE biggest thing that gets in the way of people sharing them? And, what can you do about it? Take a peek at this short video 👀 Originally made for customers to spread the word about the power of employee storytelling to other internal teams. It's also useful for anyone else wanting to take away the biggest barriers to this most influential tactic. #CredibleMessengers #Storytelling #BehaviourChange Carl Hodler

The best things come in threes ... so how do you enable three stage learning transfer in leadership programmes?   Social reflection + peer-to-peer storytelling = more learning transfer + more proof of impact 📈 Bringing the power of video storytelling and social reflection to leadership and development programmes helps you evidence changes in behaviour, skills and application as well as support the learning process itself through: 🗣️ Programme intros leaning into key themes  🗣️ Real world scenario-based group activities and pitches  🗣️ Teach backs where individuals codify to share what they’ve learned  🗣️ Watch parties where people act as critical friends on stories shared 🗣️ Transformation stories and testimonials reinforcing impact You can even compile stories into montages to drive debate for a particular session or celebrate graduation. This isn’t just about the individual applying what they've learned and creating new value, it’s also about organisational change, culture and performance. "We have some new company behaviours and we're struggling to embed them." This is one of the most common challenges people first come to us with at #StoryTagger. And, it’s not hard to see why.   Organisational values and behaviours are an essential driver of culture change and transformation. They give your people the confidence, permission, and skills to do what’s expected and needed even when things are constantly changing.   They’re also notoriously hard to embed 🤯   Why? Employees are experiencing change fatigue (reported by Gartner and others). Plus, there’s often a lack of leadership and visible role models, so when new behaviours are introduced, they are implemented inconsistently. One of the most powerful tactics to make behaviours stick is by sharing peer stories. And, we’re not talking platitudes. You need to SHOW how your people, your pioneers are putting them into practice. It's time to capture the ‘learnable’ experiences that others can apply: 🗣️ What does ‘Collaboration’ actually look like in action?  🗣️ What’s the business impact or career progression of someone being ‘Curious’ or ‘Brave’?  🗣️ How are people making ‘Accountability’ a habit and what helped them make a mindset shift? Seeing peers just ahead in a similar learning or work journey share their behaviours, experiences and impactful outcomes as structured, self-filmed video stories is an incredibly powerful way to move the dial 🚀 What tactics are you using to make your values and behaviours stick? #BehaviourChange #CompanyValues #CompanyCulture

✨ New StoryTagger x Lambda Chi customer story ✨ How Lambda Chi used the power of peer influence and storytelling to reconnect members, build skills and make values stick at scale 🚀 🚀 🚀 For Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. their members are everything! Can you prove impact of your cohort programmes before the business ROI bell rings? Everyone wants to see impact resulting directly from the development programmes you’re running. It’s hard to prove though, right? 🤯 Of course, you want to move beyond completions and happy sheets. And, data’s essential. But, you don’t need to wait for longer term business metrics to show whether or not a programme is creating value. Using video storytelling and social reflection during a programme is a smart, effective way to evidence what's been learned, shifts in behaviour and real-world applications. 🎯 Embed individual learning 🎯 Level up the whole cohort through peer-to-peer learning stories 🎯 Evidence change to sponsors and create value beyond the programme Teach backs, transformation journeys and testimonials increase learning transfer for the individual, whole cohort and wider organisation. Plus, these valuable impact stories also provide compelling, visible evidence. Use montages to involve sponsors at key stages, a de-brief with line managers or make a video playbook to create learning and change with wider audiences. Want to find out more? 👇
