Do you remember when you first decided to go self-employed? I know that I: ⏰ Spent time doing the wrong things 💻 Wrote a load of content I never used 😮💨 Didn't have a good balance with work, too many hours and not enough rest Mistakes are like that—they’re the necessary stumbles that teach us efficiency, creativity, and resilience. They also teach us what we want from being self-employed - and what we don't. I went self-employed at 25 and opened two businesses, I was told: ❌ I needed more industry experience ❌ I should be an employed PA for 10-15 years first ❌ I'm too young and it's too risky ❌ What about your pension? I went self-employed because I knew I had skills that could help others and wasn't afraid to make mistakes and find solutions. I knew that I was here to understand and support small businesses that need flexible business support and a VA that cares. I know it was the best decision I ever made - mistakes and all. The best of your career is yet to come! Keep moving forward, keep making mistakes, and keep growing - and work with a VA if you're wanting more from your business. #computersaysno #makemistakes #learnandgrow #businesserrors #businessupport #virtualassistant #selfemployed

Here's a throwback to a few months ago when I spent a few days exploring the Lake District with my warmest beanie and my new camera. Photography was a passion of mine as a teenager, and I’ve recently rekindled that love. The moment I looked through the lens again, I realised it was something I should never have left behind. Over the past 2-3 years, I've poured so much time and energy into building The Business Vine and my Professional Organising business that I admittedly neglected most (all) of my hobbies. I even let my passport expire to avoid the temptation of taking a holiday 👀. It's ironic that my job is to give people back their time, yet I wasn’t taking much time for myself. Being self-employed, it’s easy to get caught up in the constant cycle of "cracking on". I know many of my clients felt the same way – the need to constantly hustle, grow, and push forward and repeat. Small business owners often find themselves stuck in a never-ending loop of to-do lists, striving for consistency, generating new ideas, and trying to maintain a work-life balance that allows them to enjoy their interests, spend time with loved ones, and simply relax. I help one-woman bands and small business owners to feel connected rather than isolated, with a system in place that lightens the load. This support helps create mental space for more – more life inside and outside of the business. Whether it’s taking a non-working day each week, enjoying a laptop-free holiday, or outsourcing social media, having more time gives you more freedom to devote time to what you love. It feels great to not do-it-all. What hobbies have you paused? Do you truly have a good work-life balance? Dreaming of a less busy Summer? Message me. P.S. My new passport has arrived ✈️ #peacefulsummer #outsourcing #smallbusinessowner #photography #hobbies #soletrader #businessmanagement #virtualassistant #savetime #isolation #teamwork

Opportunities can be daunting. They often come dressed in the disguise of hard work, risk, and sacrifice. They demand courage and resilience. They push us out of our comfort zones, challenge us to be more, to do more. I've supported businesses that have grabbed opportunities with both hands and never looked back. I've seen results fueled from an opportunity. I've also seen busy professionals overlook opportunities because their ducks aren't quite in the right row and they're stuck in a cycle of endless to-do lists, guilt-ridden procrastination and little productivity. Are you truly open to opportunities as a Business Owner? Are you stuck in your ways - ways that aren't getting you the results you want? Do you have the space in your head? Would sharing your workload give you more space to think over and consider opportunities? I know it helps the Business Owners I support every week. Get in touch to find out more about working with The Business Vine.
