The Future Plate

Food and Beverage Services

A culinary village of the leading Black chefs of our time, amplifying African and Caribbean cuisine & culture.

About us

The Future Plate is a culinary village bringing together leading Black chefs of our time, culture carriers & makers of change. We are inspired by and draw from our culinary ancestors, paying homage to the traditional dishes but cooking and presenting them with the culinary verve we are fast becoming known for. We cater & curate events for the world’s most famous brands, private individuals and corporates, creating memorable experiences with the sole purpose of sharing culture through food. Other services include consultancy, brand activations, menu development, brand partnerships & a management division which exists to amplify the visibility and work of trailblazing Black chefs who are overlooked. Beyond our commercial endeavours we are building a creative hub for the exploration and development of African & Caribbean dishes, developing a scholarship for Black chefs, launching a conference and working closely with Made By Humans to unearth our food stories and tell them before we loose them through film, books, exhibitions and podcasts. For more information, visit thefutureplate.com and follow us on Instagram (@the_futureplate). Got an opportunity, get in touch with our founder at [email protected]

It’s been a while since you heard from us, so much has happened but the biggest news is the we can now call Somerset House our home! We are now proud owners of a 148 square foot high-tech kitchen in one of London’s most iconic landmarks, this will be our hub, our culinary village, a place for the chefs, culture carriers and innovators to come together, explore, push boundaries and above all help shape African & Caribbean cuisine and culture. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far, but this is only the beginning. Joining the Residents community at the ‘Home of Innovators’ gives us the space to truly develop, realise our dreams, honour our unnamed culinary greats and continue to cater for luxury events the UK & beyond. This wouldn’t have been possible without the most incredible team, William Chilila Opeoluwa Odutayo Chef Jason Howard - Chef Consultant / Culinary Author Daniel Rampat and so many more, all pushing together to create history. Thank you to the team at Distrkt especially Anna Cowley you have been amazing. Thank you to all at Somerset House, Jenny Freestone you have been incredible and what a beautiful relationship this is shaping to be. It can be difficult sharing a vision on paper, it can be an uphill task trying to convince others to believe in the vision and come on the journey with you, the guys at Unox UK Ltd Jake Hewison Luke Taylor and MEIKO UK Phil Walley have been nothing but remarkable, believing in what we set out to achieve and ensuring they do all they can to make the vision a reality. We are truly blessed to have them as partners, working closely with the chefs to understand their needs and tailoring the products to ensure it’s specific to our needs. We cannot thank you enough and look forward to building a relationship with you and Somerset House with the sole aim of building a foundation for the next generation of chefs and helping shape the future of African & Caribbean cuisine and culture. And of course continue to cook some banging dishes for our growing list of clients. #wemove #wemovetogether

Cooking = Ingredients + Execution That’s the simplified version. We know it’s love, dedication, passion, untold hours in the kitchen exploring flavour combinations, reducing, refining and then back to the drawing board. It’s a labour of love, but when you get it right, it's a feeling like no other. Now imagine getting it right at International Salon Culinaire a testament to time spent in the kitchen toiling with ideas, what ingredients to use, how much of what, is the texture right, how does it taste? To then be judged by some of the best to do it and win, what a feeling! Click the link below if you want to enter and drop us a message and we will help guide you through the process and competition so you can concentrate on making sure your dish is a banger. https://lnkd.in/eTn7RzbG Good luck!

Welcome Chef Jason Howard We are extremely excited to announce that the incredibly talented and well respected Jason Howard is taking up the position of Culinary Director at the Future Plate. A friend and collaborator since our inception, it’s been a long time coming and we thrilled to have his creative flair, knowledge and experience as we enter the next phase of our journey. He will work closely with Founder & Director Julian George and Head Chef William Chilila on strategy and day to day operations. A lot has been happening behind the scenes, building new partnerships, exploring new avenues and welcoming more amazing chefs to the Future Plate collection. We have so much planned and can’t wait to share as and when the time permits. #wemove #wemovetogether
