NEW: What do the public and NHS staff think about #AI in health care? Our latest research on public attitudes shines a light on how people feel about using AI in the NHS and what their biggest concerns are. Our findings show that: ➡️ there is a broadly receptive environment for the use of AI in health and care among both the UK public and NHS staff, with over half of the public and three quarters of NHS staff surveyed supporting the use of AI for patient care, and an even greater proportion supporting its use for admin. ➡️ one of the top concerns for both the public and NHS staff is that they don’t want using AI to make them feel more distant from each other.. ➡️ NHS staff surveyed are, on balance, looking forward to using AI in their roles but this is not felt equally across all occupational groups. Responsible AI has significant potential to help ease the significant pressures facing the NHS. We argue that engaging with the public and NHS staff to understand and address concerns will be critical to making progress. Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/e9kq_hw8

Good health is an asset. It is essential for individual wellbeing, strong communities and a thriving economy. Yet the UK’s health is increasingly frayed and unequal. It is one of the greatest challenges facing the new government. Rebuilding the nation’s health should sit alongside delivering economic growth and achieving net zero as the key drivers of government policy. Early signs from the government’s missions-based approach are encouraging. But our health is shaped by a broad and complex range of influences in our environments and the scale of the challenge will require a whole government approach, with investment and action from right across Whitehall. We call for a cross-government approach, with action across four key areas: 1. Establishing independent advice and accountability 2. Embedding prevention-led policy and spending 3. Using targets to focus attention on need and impact 4. Sustained action on health across all missions and wider government activity.
