🎉 WE'RE CELEBRATING 🎉 Congratulations to our Training and Engagement Manager David Penney who has completed his ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Investing in training and development provides a significant return, both for the individual and for the organisation. Equipping staff for their role and providing opportunities for learning and development are so important to us. David completed this course through NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) and the learning has helped him to expand his leadership skills, equipping him with best practice techniques for managing his team. Equipping staff for their role and providing opportunities for learning and development are so important to us. Deborah's role changed earlier in the year and she now has management responsibilities. This course which she completed through NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) has provided her with additional tools and techniques to supplement her existing knowledge and help her fulfil her new responsibilities. 'Delegate, communicate and open up about what you are struggling with.' We really enjoy equipping young leaders for their leadership role in The Northern Ireland Boys' Brigade (BBNI). The skills they learn are so useful and we encourage them to use them outside of their leadership in BBNI. 43 young adults STEP UP into leadership. One of the highlights in the BBNI calendar is our Step Up weekend and last weekend did not disappoint. Over the weekend we worked with 43 young adults who have stepped into leadership in The Northern Ireland Boys' Brigade (BBNI) and have given up their weekend to get more equipped for the role. With leaders from BB companies throughout Northern Ireland, new friendships were made, ideas were exchanged, and the craic was mighty. The weekend focused on equipping the young leaders with skills and techniques that will assist them with programme planning, working with children and young people, story telling, and sharing faith, in addition to the important compliance elements including safeguarding and risk assessments. Participants told us: ‘My highlight was just learning new things for being a leader for anchors like different games and how other leaders structure their nights.’ ‘I have enjoyed being equipped with great skills to help me as a leader.’ ‘I liked how Christian orientated it was and very real and how each speaker linked what they were saying back to God and what he can do for us.’ ‘My highlight was the fun and fellowship with everyone. I love that we have been equipped over the weekend to step up for our Lord. The christian model from the leaders made it so special for me.’ Thanks to our volunteer trainers who invest so much in this training and to our friends at Made for More for leading some of our sessions. Investing in younger leaders is such an important part of ensuring that we can continue to work with children and young people through Boys’ Brigade in Northern Ireland and Donegal. Thank you to everyone who completed the training, we really enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to hearing great things about how you put the learning into practice. Team day at Summer Madness. So good to spend the day with young people, leaders, church leaders and christian agencies at Summer Madness. We're sharing the message that we are all part of God's masterpiece and are loving the opportunity to get young people to complete part of the jigsaw and write what it means to them to know that God loves them.
