"If you're not going to do 100 episodes, don't bother doing one." 🎙️ These words from best-selling author and renowned marketer Seth Godin about podcasting resonated deeply with me. But by the time I encountered this quote, we had already released the first episode, so I felt compelled to commit to 99 more - Over the next 4 years episode 100 became my North Star! ⭐ Now, here we are at this milestone, having had the privilege of interviewing some amazingly inspiring people. This journey has been more than just a numbers game. It's been a transformative experience, filled with challenges, and unexpected turns. 🏎️ Everyone who knows me will tell you I'm a huge podcast enthusiast. From Tim Ferriss to Joe Rogan, DoCEO to Modern Wisdom, I've devoured them all. Naturally, I wanted to create one —partly to connect with target customers and partly for the sheer fun of it. 🎧 So off I went and bought all the necessary equipment, only to have it languish in the 'someday' pile for the best part of two years (Fellow procrastinators, I see you nodding). 😅 Then came a spark of inspiration. My colleague, Terry Andreou, suggested we interview tech leaders and share on LinkedIn as blogs. Armed with a vague plan, we headed down to Angel in London to record our inaugural episode with our very first Tech Leader, Daniel Hulme. However, fate had other plans. The interview went well but our transcription software failed spectacularly, leaving us with nothing but a backup recording on my trusty old Android phone. On the train home, we listened to the recording, and disappointment turned into opportunity when we realised the raw, unfiltered conversation captured the essence of what we wanted to achieve. 🎙️✨ We quickly followed up with an interview with the founder of Gousto, Timo Boldt and just like that, The Tech Leaders Podcast was born. 🎉 That was back in December 2019, but the 4+ years that followed taught me a valuable lesson. So many aspiring content creators whom I speak with want to meticulously prep—crafting detailed plans, conducting extensive research, and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment before they feel ready to begin—we launched with nothing more than a dated smartphone and a spark of determination. Our journey from that point on was one of incremental improvement, learning and evolving with each episode. 📈 The key takeaway? Don't let perfectionism paralyse you. Start with what you have, learn from your missteps, and focus on making each attempt better than the last. Action, however imperfect, always trumps perpetual planning. 💡 A huge thanks goes out to Amy Stephenson, Paul Matthews, and all of the team from bedigital for their unrelenting support, plus Bengo Media and Adam Whalley, our editor extraordinaire. And not forgetting Tramshed Tech, Fina Charleson, Nelson Bostock, Kerensa Jennings, and all of our amazing guests who have been a huge part of this journey. ❤️😊 So, to all those sitting on an idea: just take that first step.🚀
